Okay I actually took the two screws off instead. Man I do feel like a million bucks now that I managed to pull both door panels off. Just waiting for the mail man to come in a few hours to give me my speaker grills.
Thanks guys!! |

BTW I'm not sure if it's because I have a 2014, but I only need 2 extra screws to bolt on the speaker grills and silver ring trim onto the leather knee pad with each door, not 3 extra screws as mentioned on the DIY (I double checked this during assembly).

Speakers
Hi! I'm doing the door panels and I have everything except for the six screws so I will get those from Subaru or Toyota this next week.(staying OEM even on the screws) I wanted to know if the OEM BRZ Door speakers fit right in the Red stitched JPM speaker grills? I have not taken the door panels off to see. Just checking BEFORE I do this. Thanks, Rick in Spokane (HoopFest Weekend in Spokane!)

OEM Speaker Grill Tapping Screws
I just got my KIT for the L&R Speaker Red Stitched panels and this was straight from a Japan Subaru Dealer and they said these Tapping Screws are the OEM for the speaker rings. Just in case anyone was wondering. Subaru part#904500024 The number is the same for USA. I paid $.68 each.

You know you guys don't have to take off the door panels and center console. Just shift them out of the way, and for the door panel use a stubby screwdriver to replace the screws.

Good post. I would also add that when taking off the first panel pictured(lowest panel under kneepad) just pull TOWARD you and don't be afraid to use force. For the ebrake, pull up on the silver ring through the shifter leather, it won't hurt the leather and there it's easier to start on the sides. It's necessary to unplug the traction control buttons before removing the shifter too.
Took me 3.5 hours, I got stuck a few times but nothing broke! |

when pulling on the knee-pad as shown in the picture, be careful if you choose to use another hand. DO NOT place a hand on the bottom flat side of the knee pad. There is a chance you may cut yourself. Got 5 stitches

i replaced the my knee pads and the vertical silver dash parts today and used your 'How To'. Thanks a lot, it made the job a lot easier. 15 minutes at the most.

Thanks for the guide, worked well to upgrade my '13 to a softer knee pad. It's nicer during spirited driving and long cruise control sessions when resting the leg. The red sewn thread works well with the other red components of the car.
