  3. Large nut on the tow hook to keep it from going in all the way. I used a 3/4", which is just big enough to slip past the threads, but not slip all the way down the tow hook.
What you get:

Also, if anyone is curious, I have this mic http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/wi...eca17168eef6f/ routed up through the tow hook opening and into the engine bay by the battery. Worked like a charm!

Found a solution to this.
Instead of the 3/4 nut, use a 3/4 fender washer (I believe the bin number is 3260).
It is cheaper than the nut by far ($0.47 and I used one), and allows me to use the towhook on the BRZ without it being crooked.

I did a test fit and got the results in the pics.
Haven't actually driven with it though, so I can't tell you if it shakes or anything. Should be fine though, as the towhook is tight.

FYI - I have the Hero 3+, which is a bit slimmer - but there is still plenty of room behind the camera, so I suspect this should work with all GoPros

Because without it, the stock tow hook screws too far in and there isn't enough room to mount the go pro onto the tow hook.

not to resurrect an old thread, but i just found that using the roll bar mount doesn't require any washers on the stock tow hook. just gotta turn it in all the way until it stops at the horizontal position and clamp it on the big "O" works pretty well.
