Had he been thinking about his surviving son, fiancé, and the rest of his family/friends maybe he would have stayed off 2 wheels. I mean it's their choice(which is clearly wrong by any thinking person) but we all should let them know the majority of us really don't think they should be out there sharing the road with us and think about their family and friends who would have to deal with the loss of their lives when they inevitably die. It's all avoidable by just some common sense.

This concept really applies to a great majority of us on here in fact and goes beyond even the selfish motorcycle riders. We are after all trying to increase the speeds of our cars by any means including force inducing air into them when they weren't designed that way and we all know speed kills. How our government even allows us to bypass well thought out safety standards that take highly trained engineers years to figure out on how to balance the top speed/acceleration out these 1.5 ton chunks of metal for safety of the driver/passengers and everybody around that vehicle is beyond me. Totally sickens me to think how unsafe these cars become when people try to get every ounce of speed out of them until they become such a danger to others sharing the road with them. Psychos with the goal to make the most power possible until it almost blows up the engine and then back it off a little is just asinine. Government mandated autonomous vehicles can't come soon enough.
I'm sorry to hear about your friend. It sounds like somebody else was being careless and caused his death. However, you really should consider that you are using his memory to promote other careless activities which have been shown to kill others, similarly to how a careless individual killed him. That is some twisted logic and I'm kind of glad I am not one of your friends to be used that way. Wearing a mask is no different than watching out for motorcycles when driving a car. Both prevent you from killing someone else. The difference is you cannot be prosecuted for killing someone with covid. Just think how you might feel the driver who killed your friend suffered no consequences from his carelessness.

We are very afraid of getting it again.
Masks are not really good at preventing inhalation/ingestion of aerosolized "stuff." We can catch it through our eyes. Masked or not, one of you walked through a cloud of it, most likely in an enclosed space with stagnant air. After that, game over for the whole household.

We now have a nurse visiting one of our family a couple times a week for surgical after-care. I open all the windows fifteen minutes before, during, and after the short visit. I do this more out of respect for our visitor than for our safety. We do the best we can in the spirit of the exercise and hope for the best.

His killer suffered minor injuries. They're old, also lawyers get paid well to make sure they aren't going to jail and get a slap on the wrist. Probably sprinkle in some "he was going 48mph in a 45mph zone" or whatever gets those people off normally.

Quite surprised it took so long for that fact to come up in here.
Funny but true:

Can't remember the last time I seen anybody wearing one of those in public let alone a doctor/politician of any sort up on TV in front of millions of viewers.

The mask is there to protect everyone around the wearer from the wearer, not the wearer from everyone else. We have been over this.

I personally have brought it up many times. So have others. I can't help you with your reading comprehension.

And one... more... time. The mask is to m-i-n-i-m-i-z-e particulate shedding out of respect for others. Maybe you don't care much for your neighbor. I can't understand your objection to mean anything else. It all fits with the passive-aggressive, disingenuous, sometimes hostile tone of your input.

I only got hostile when hostility was directed at me. The posts are all unedited in this thread so don't twist it around.

Some people just don't get it.

People living in senior's homes catch it from the PSWs who then spread it to 9others if they aren't using the utmost precautions. Add to it that seniors living in a residence sometimes have a bit of dementia developing and might not be as defensive, might wander around when they shouldn't, and not take notice if a PSW is assisting them showering while their masks are down.

My Dad would have caught it from a PSW who might have been asymptomatic or called in sick 1 or 2 days later. If people did everything they could to extinguish the virus transmission this would stop happening over and over.

PSWs have families, use public transit, shop, celebrate holidays just like the rest of us.

On another forum a guy in Canada says they should leave everything status quo and spend all the money protecting seniors. My question to him was, how exactly are you going to put a magic bubble around vulnerable people when they run out of PSWs?

Sadly not surprising considering he never even apologized for posting an image and incorrectly associating it with COVID.

For someone so against disinformation it’s super hypocritical to not even at least acknowledge wrongfully posting like that.

If nothing else, be a man and accept you made a mistake.

Don’t ignore it and keep ignoring everyone’s solid points.

As someone with an elderly grandfather in just about this exact situation, it really makes me wonder if the people who are so against acknowledging/being careful due to COVID are the ones who lack relationships with at-risk people.
