You can blow a motor both on and off boost.

My thought process is that torque breaks parts as one type of force on a motor. Rpms can break parts because inertial forces dramatically increase with rpms. Oil starvation will lead to parts breaking. Heat can cause parts to break, oil to thin. Timing problems with air and fuel or timing belt slips can lead to stuff breaking. I can go on, but everything is exacerbated with more power and with boost or more boost and with pushing a motor beyond its OEM manufacturing.

At low rpms engine load and torque can still be high, heat can be higher because the engine isn’t circulating as well or efficiently, and oil pressure can be lower on rpm dependent pumps, so bearings can fail easier, maybe.

I would imagine that compared to stock, 4500 to 5000 rpms is rather "spirited " in a boosted twin.

Yes it is!!

I rarely ever need to go to my peak of 300whp which is weirdly available at 6500 rpms. At 4500-5000 my power is 205-230whp while torque is 237wtq at those rpms.

Not much, I think after your reply I only made one more post this morning, then the whole chain got nuked. If you didn't see it I can PM it, I was pretty proud of that one. I didn't check the board till hours later so I don't know if any more drama was stirred.

You know, reading this nostalgic post just kind of annoys me. When it was necro'd I went back and started reading again from the beginning. All these people attacking OP. I feel like I tried to give even, thoughtful responses which were being met with nothing but sarcasm, memes, and obfuscation.

The amusing thing to me, is now basically everyone agrees with OP. They way he talks may have rubbed people the wrong way, but you see what other tuners and testers say, you see all across this forum, it seems like everyone has picked up that rods are the weakest with significant boost, and there is a significant risk of failure at 300hp.

I kind of feel vindicated, even though there is no acknowledgement, got annoyed at one necro circlejerk post in particular, and I got annoyed and incredulous that people want to keep arguing 2 years later.

I feel sorry for the moderators. I got too angry and slung some mud, probably went farther than I should and probably crossed some board lines, but I still feel like my posts and words were justified and I feel my anger at the particular action is especially justified given the real world consequences.
Especially at this stage when the platform isn't new anymore, and there are probably a lot of people jumping in who can only afford used cars, who can't afford new engines.

But I am sorry I put the moderators in a bad place. I don't completely agree with the deletions, but I am glad that at least the thread wasn't locked.

eventually people that boost will learn the truth. I stopped sharing along time ago, and in that time i have stopped the dreaded blow by issues rod failures and head gasket failures, running 700+ at the wheels for 2+ years. so when you decide on LA Sleeves, your welcome, when you decide on the new improved mls headgsks, your welcome, 1/2 inch studs your welcome closed deck fa20 your welcome, and the list goes on.
now people just have to figure out what machine work is needed and what specs.
