To be fair with justatroll's comment. it would probably be best to have a stocker to run back to back. More accurate since temp and humidity change every day. But if theres a lot of stock pulls we should have a good estimate on what the gains are

Anyone that knows about dynos knows you can get variations of TENS of hp from one dyno to another.

One of the theories about why Mike is seeing 221 whp is because the DYNO was wonky.

A baseline stock reading taken at the same time would be far more valuable then one pulled from a library in this case (actually in any case really). Dynos may be a great way to measure while tuning but as a set "standard" they suck since the variation we see can be huge. I have lost what little faith I had in these readings because of these differences.

This is true but they are using the same dyno as the "baselines". Temp would still be a factor though.

That is why I stated "back-to-back" to minimize ALL variables including environmental.

I get the usefulness of the baseline, I won't pay for someone to be said baseline though. Anyone who is willing and able to go to be the baseline (and pay the fees associated with the dyno pulls) is more than welcome to do so but I'm not gonna be the one to fork over the dough for it.

Then IF Mike's car still shows unusually high HP numbers, all the nay-sayers will STILL point to the Dyno as being the problem.

I was just trying to help by eliminating all doubt.
Whenever we calibrate something at work, we start the calibration sequence with a known good "standard", against the calibration test equipment, then test the UUT (unit under test).

As far as I now there is no "standard" against which to test a dyno, therefore a vehicle in stock form is as close as you will get.
Since there are so many documented numbers for these cars (in stock form), it is the best way to "calibrate" any given dyno.

... but what do I know I am just a professional Test Engineer....
(AND I slept at a Holiday Inn Express last night)

(prepare the flames - ANYtime someone says they are an engineer on this forum, people climb out of the woodwork to tell them "just because you 'claim' to be ....BLAH BLAH BLAH..., however when someone states "I am a mechanic...." they just accept anything they say... double standard)

I'm one of those nay sayers and no no we won't. Reason being Prime Motoring's reputation is iffy at best and they've been accused of incompetence several times by former clients. Moto-East on the other hand is very well respected (in fact I think they are one of the top recognizable shops when it comes to tuning a Twin) So I trust their assessment of the situation and trust their dyno is properly set up

I just wanna go back to the 1/4mile already to beat my own times. Haha.
Spoke to Phil yesterday sounds like we are doing this near the end of march.
While im content with the power it makes, its nice to get a second reading (even if its gonna cost an arm&leg in gas and tolls)
normally id pass on this cause its a trip from ny, but at this point, whats a day off from work and some gas and tolls to get to the bottom of this

So what happened to the worlds fastest NA BRZ?

One would think that you would still be bragging about this.

Did the dyno run not go so well?
Or have you just "not had the time" lately???

I spoke to Phil and mike from moto-east recently, he never did contact them to have the free pulls I had organised for him... what a letdown hahaha
