Creaking noise coming from the rear

Hello guys,

I've been getting a small creaking noise at the rear of the car for a while, which happens when driving over rough surfaces or when the body flexes.
I've tried securing every loose bit of wiring in the trunk, putting some cloth where the rear seat meets the parcel shelf, putting some electrician tape around the rear seat latches, but none of this has brought any improvement.

As far as I can hear, this noise seems to be coming from the inside of the trunk, and may be reduced when driving with stuff inside the car, so maybe something under the trunk's floor?

Any ideas?

Alex

Could it be something relating to ^ this issue? It drove me nuts for the first few months until I had it fixed. It's much better. A little bit of noise still persists, but I think it's from the leather on the bottom of the rear seat back rubbing on that of the rear seat bottoms.

I've noticed a creaking noise as well from what appears to be coming from the rear when the car flexes during certain types of cornering. Can't for certain which side it comes from. It's not a popping or clicking sound. It doesn't appear to be a metalic sound as much as a plastic or some other material rubbing together. It doesn't happen when driving down the road, just only on certain cornering or coming down at angle off of driveway curbing. And no...it's not from bottoming out.

It's most likely from the rear deck, occurs during winter months due to plastic being harder

It sounds quite similar indeed!
I almost thought I had it as I found out the gas cap release cable was making a creak when moved by hand, but relocating that cable had no influence whatsoever on the sound.

After a bit of messing around, I can say for certain that:
-it's coming from inside the trunk (moving the backseat up or down has no influence on it)
-it's somewhere around the center

Here's a recording of the noise I just made, you can hear it at 6" and 16":

In that case I was causing it by driving part of the car over a raise on a curb, which caused the body to flex. But it also happen when driving over rough surfaces or imperfections.

If its not the deck spot welds, it could be the seat latches. Mine rattle from time to time, so I release the rear seat, and relatch it.
