Is the lockout of 1st and reverse directly related to pedal travel? I just started getting locked out often. I can hear when the clutch engages. One time when i depressed the clutch pedal all the way to the floor, I heard it engage. My engagement is super low as it is. I'll adjust the pedal to see if it remedies the issue.

How new is your clutch? I know they had a revision of the stage 2 which seem to be working fine.

Have a exedy stage 1 whit exedy fly wheel.
The first thing I noticed when installing the clutch, was the very poor liquid like grease that's follow the clutch kit.
Know as soon as I saw and felt the grease on my fingers that it would fail in lubricant.
So I did go for a high temp graffit grease, and i do a lot of o tracking whit the car, and also compete in time attack, and have never had any issues.

The grease they include with the clutch is ideal. Best case scenario is to use provided grease, not guess with aftermarket stuff.

So I adjusted the clutch pedal master cylinder rod as per this thread
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8040
Adjusted it so that the cylinder stroke is further. Before, the catch point was very low, slightly above full depression. Now its about the midway point. After the adjustment, I haven't been locked out when before I would be locked out of 1st about 70% of the time. But I'll drive it for a week to see if the adjustment provided actual good results.

Update, it's been 18 months since I've had the kit, it would lock out occasionally. Now it's been occurring more frequently.

I just want to add a point of data. Previously with my Stg. 1, I was having difficulty with 1st gear. When swapping my motor I reused the clutch, but I took the opportunity to carefully clean and grease the splines of the clutch disc and the input shaft. As of yet, about 3 months later, I have not had any trouble with the clutch.

anyone else besides @Kiske using the revised stage 2 with the flywheel from the original stage 2 kit? I'm sick of the daily lock outs now and just looking for confirmation that the issues are still not returning after some usage.
