ETA on TRD Supercharger?

Hey folks,

Any guesses on when the official TRD supercharger kit will land?

I know they released one for the Scion TC, so I'm not sure how long it took for that to come out. (i.e. if it was released 1 year after the Scion TC debuted).

Also - any guesses on how much HP it will yield? (200HP -> 260HP or so?)

It took a year or two for the 1st gen tC TRD supercharger to be "for sale" from Toyota. Horsepower increased by 39. Unfortunately it was just as expensive as after-market Turbo setups and did not have great reliability. I don't expect Toyota to release one honestly. Very few people were purchasing them, and the ones that did sell they were performing warranty work on continuously.

While the tC one was admittedly poor, the ones they have for the Tacoma, FJ, and Tundra are good and they continue to sell them.

Not 100% true. The S/C was offered first for the MY 2006, so about a year after the tC was released. HP at the wheels was 200 hp, and dynos had measured the crank hp at about 240-250. I have the sheets somewhere, I apologize for not having them on hand to back me up. It helps that I have a 2007 SC that I know this.

I know the setup for the 05-06 models was fairly reliable, other than some defective mounting brackets (which were replaced as they broke, not constantly in the shop) The 07-09 set up, sadly, was designed like crap, and I was definitely getting warranty repairs done until they figured it out last year.

Still...worth it. I hope that TRD makes an S/C for this car.

Actually, when at the dealer, I asked about this.

There WILL be a S/C. There are no details, but TRD parts are supposed to start rolling in late fall.

I'm guessing that the S/C rolls out early 2013.

I predict that since the aftermarket for this car is booming (only ~7 months on the market), Toyota will put out a supercharger kit quicker than 1 year. Probably going to be before summer, since everybody wants to take out their sports out for the warm weather. Toyota will also pick up an existing package- probably the Vortech kit and do a mark up.

Vortech with a markup meaning we get to keep the warranty...want very much.

There will be a Supercharger. That has been confirmed already. Toyota has to put one out to the public due to their participation in the Pirelli World Challenge.

Fixed that for you. Until I see a press release and literature, I am not going to hold my breath.
