I'm about to pull the trigger on the Kraftwerks supercharger. Hoping I picked what I'm looking for in FI. Looks like a great bang for the buck kit. Turbo is extremely expensive it seems and with how hot it gets here, probably not a good idea for daily driving.

I'm jealous. That's the one that I want. I'm more of waiting for bonus time

Hm, so what about having 1 cat? Not sure if it will still pass emissions or not

Supercharger doesn't create the massive heat that turbo does, so yeah much better off than turbocharged here for sure.

Plenty of time to look into this though - I want to do suspension before I start pulling stuff off the engine The car's been fast enough for the past almost year I've had it and I want to get something slightly more aggressive than the stock shocks/struts. Then later will be smoothing out what the engine can do. It's funny that most of the drives I go on put the engine right in the middle of the torque pit though.
The ft86 SpeedFactory catted UEL is a good option and supposedly doesn't throw a cel either.

You will pass. Even visually the FP cat is the only cat you can "see". It filters enough at idle for you to pass. Now when you are WOT... Lol. Different story. Keeps the black crap and smell out mostly, but the restriction is barely there. Catless for turbo, catted FP for everything else IMO. Good rasp killer too, sans 3" exhausts.

Depends on your platform. You'll know if you don't have enough catalytic converter efficiency by normally a P0420 secondary cat CEL. I believe OBDII is tuned for the # of cats on the platform (since manufacturers would like to use the least # of cats as possible since the materials inside are so expensive). Hi-flow cats, imo, aren't as efficient as OEM ones when it comes to cleansing - they're more for the increased airflow going through.

Sorry if the English is garbled... I'm on a call right now.

Couple people have thrown a CEL after several miles. It's the difference between a high flow and a regular cat. Normally you'll throw it when both O2's read the same flow pattern. You'll typically see that when you're cruising down the highway at 70 mph with no fluctuation. I had the code on even with my catless header, but with the tune, it kept it off a good period of time. It popped on me when I was cruising at 60 mph one day. Finally, I just had it disabled. Usually its not a problem once you're tuned, but the ECU can always act up and throw a code. Temp fix was just wiping it with Ecutek and I wouldn't see it for 200-300 miles, sometimes longer.

I'll probably install this at my apartment on 4 jacks, lol. The bay rental time would cost a bit, but the other problem being I'd need the 2 post lift. The 5AD side skirts go lower than the pinch welds so jacking up or race ramps are all I can use. You guys can come by here if you want!

On second thought... I could just get the flat bay rental and jack it up myself...

Someone needs to volunteer up their garage.

If for some reason you need a tow (i.e. you go to DIY and can't finish it there) then I can tow you in my FJ

I'm out of town for the next 1.5 weeks. The smoker has been fairly frustrating actually but that's a whole long discussion.

For the cat question... I had to go through this with my impreza, which has a high flow cat but always a CEL. You have to have all but 1 sensor in a ready state. I have to time it perfectly that the rear O2 is the one not ready - the gas cap one frequently takes longer to get ready than the rear O2 which fires the CEL. They can, and will, do a visual inspection if they suspect you are running catless but of course places vary on strictness.

Personally I feel if the inspection is about pollution and not an easy cash grab they should do only sniffer tests but almost everywhere does OBD2 only now. Sorry catless guys you stink literally to be behind in traffic all for a couple HP. I was behind a catless wrx yesterday and it took me a long time to get the smell outta my car. Its not worth it if you care about fellow drivers or the environment.

Goddamn it, my fluids haven't shipped yet. But just keep the thread updated for fluid / install day, this time I can actually come out and help. Not going full hardcore on the oil, but just doing the 8100 motul, but doing the 300 and 300L for tranny and diff.
