That's the way I read it, see the recall document I linked to in the message above. There is no time limit listed for rentals.

Subaru did a timing belt for me on my old forester, one part apparently wasn't in stock and it took them 4 days total. I had a new legacy for 4 days, no charge, and a smile upon return. It depends on the dealer, but this particular issue is a major recall.... someone is covering a rental.
For my recall, they covered me in a rental for 2 weeks, no questions asked. They even apologized that I had to be in it. This was Toyota though, and they must know how dead a Corolla feels compared to the 86

These seem like two very different statements?

My car is back in the dealer's shop because it spun a bearing - they're not covering a rental this time, or at least until they say for sure it is their fault. For my recall work, they offered the rental without question

When I had my recall done, they loaned me a Corolla. I made a little polite noise about not liking FWD/all-season tires in really bad conditions that I knew I'd have to drive one long haul in the next day, and asked if they'd consider the Tacoma they had parked next to it. They laughed and said no, the Corolla is all they could do. The recall took three days, and they called me with no advance notice on a Friday to tell me my car was done and to come get it. I couldn't (was working that night), and but I thanked them for their quick service and said I'd be in on Monday morning to get it. They said they only got reimbursed for two days' rental on the recall, and asked politely if there was any way I could get there that day. I just couldn't, and they accepted that without a problem, but I was surprised. As I understood it, the recall stated that they would furnish a rental from the day the customer received the recall until the day the repair was done... that could be months in some cases, no?

See my previous post.. My understanding was the same as yours, but my dealership said they only got reimbursed for two days. Weird.. they're usually pretty honest with me.

it's really hard to see the forrest from the trees with this recall. people are generally more vocal when things go wrong. it would be nice to capture MORE data from MORE repairs done regardless of outcome:

- how many miles total on the car
- how many miles driven since the recall work was performed
- any significant problems since the recall work was performed

everything is sprawled right now. but if there is a better place/less noisy/succinct way to capture the above it would help this community. i will gladly contribute my datapoint after my recall work is complete.

can people also add an entry if they've had the work done and no problems? maybe people can update their post if they get problems later.

I think it should be reserved for only failures. Sucess stories should be on their own, or else possibly a poll created on the post.

If good indicate yes. If you had a failure, post info below.

For now I'd really prefer it only be a repository for this specific negative circumstance. I appreciate the inquiry though!

Yeah good thought. Updated!

I'm going to leave the template blank and include my own entry separate

I think the benefit of only gathering data from people with problems is to quickly see if there is a trend or history of people with a problems similar to what a user may be experiencing. We know many have had the recall done without issue but that's just more to sort through to find info needed. If my car is fine I have no reason to look at data like that really
