So....the reason why I was at Laguna in the first place was to test the new Borla cat back exhaust with the UEL headers installed. We passed sound with no problems. On a wet track (sound is harder to pass and is a few db's higher with a wet track) we registered 88db at full throttle under full load going up turn 6. The sound limit for this day was 91db. You get three chances to pass sound before they kick you out.

Wow, the car sounded better than I thought it would w/ that setup. How is it @ normal cruising speed? I may forego waiting on the Borla EL after hearing the sound quality of your car.

Nice job out there--R-S3s are not exactly the ideal wet-weather tire

I like the sound of the UEL, and the power it makes is just as good as the EL headers so it's really just personal preference. I really like the sound quality of this set up. It's not to loud at normal cursing speed and the drone at freeway speeds is not bad at all. When you floor it - sounds great! Sounds much better outside the car too.

I hoping for a wet track days as well. I am running Michelin supersports. I think the 86 is hard to beat in wet

88-91dBA is terrific news for those who plan to track their FR-S using Borla Header 17284 + Cat-back 140496. Knowing that there are no issues passing sound @ MRLS answers this question for many FR-S/BRZ track owners with our cat-back. It's comforting to know adding our UEL Header will allow them to have both performance and that awesome boxer-engine sound!

At Borla Performance we prefer to sound-test @ Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca since they've enforced sound-limits for years and many racers are familiar with their standard. Recently we confirmed our Spec Miata Race Exhaust System also complies with MRLS 92 dBA sound limit.

Thanks again Chris for posting this video. Looks like you had a great time in the rain - MRLS is fun regardless of the weather. You're right about the rain and how sound limits can take the reading higher than a dry track day.

It looks like you had a great time.. The turning on the radio made me laugh, it's great to be able to enjoy yourself at the track... My first trackday, only one in a car ever, I was so nervous that while I had a great time I was just to nervous to be relaxed.. I'm horrible with names but rode with either CSG Mike or Dave, and found out what to do and then tried to apply it myself, I gained almost 10 seconds, but when he rode with me was able to point out my short comings and stuff.. I enjoyed the video.. Also my greddy evo 3 is already over the limit lol.. I wonder how much louder it would be with the UEL headers and over pipe

For better visibility, shove your rear view mirror up against the roof and adjust angle from there.
