I used "Instapak Quick" to add some support underneath the panels.
I used size #100 and it seems one is enough to fill the gap. I also think this will help deadening the noise as well.

I plan on making my own version of this kit, minus the seat-back separator piece. I like having the open cabin all the way to the back, but want the rear seat bottoms replaced.

nunonuna, those look perfect for that space!

Do any of you who have this installed think there would be enough space to fit a bottle of nitrous under?

Assume you have a little less space than the size of a seat bottom. Plus you need to figure out some sort of bracket because below the seat is the fuel tank and you don't want to be tapping and drilling that.

I imagine you could do a little Sneaky Pete bottle under each side but most standard bottles will be too big.

Without getting too crazy into deconstructing your car, if you take out one of the rear seat bottoms and run a straight edge from the peak of the driveshaft tunnel to the outside plastic you'll see the space you have to work with.

I'm surprised no one asked this before but to track guys that's the main question: does this kit allow to put 3 assembled wheels on top of it?

Not unless you put some sort of bracing underneath. I had two wheels (no tires) at about 18lbs each and the bottom panels did not like that.

I wouldn't call it that. It works as advertised and reduces weight.

True. But I tend to be extreme in my judgements )) This thing seems just not for me.

It's not 'useless crap' just because it doesn't fit your needs. Perhaps you could choose your words a little better next time.

Do as what I did, it will hold weight of the wheels.

For the price of the kit, fit and finish, you're better off picking up the kit and not installing the upright panel (which is removable at any time within seconds). I was looking to do exactly what you are but couldn't beat it for the price, factoring in how much labor would be involved in fabricating something to look this clean.

Nah, it really just depends on how you distribute the weight. I carry my Track Box on it loaded with a jack, 5qt oil, spare pads, assorted tools as well as my helmet and an overnight bag. No issues at all and leaves the trunk open for a spare tire and anything else I might need.
I'll have to grab a pic before Lime Rock next week.

Just had an idea... If you're thinking of keeping 3 wheels standing vertically (like 3 back seat passengers), maybe you could cut a trapezoid shaped piece of thin plywood to throw down on top of the kit to distribute the weight. Remember the tunnel supports the middle of the span. Spray the plywood with a rubberized coating and it'll look clean, not leave fragments everywhere, and not wreck your interior.
