Smile UEL or EL Headers?

I'm trying to decide between the two. Wondering if anyone in the Seattle area has had issues with emissions testing. If so, how do you solve for it? Also, are headers the best way to get deeper "Subaru-like" sounds or should I focus on the exhaust instead...or both? Finally where are the meet-ups in the Seattle/Everett/Tacoma/Bellevue area? Happy driving everyone and thanks!

We were all noobs at one point. Like others have said, Google is your friend. Possibly every question you have, search whatever you are looking for and either add "FRS" at the end or "site:ft86club.com" at the end and you will find your answer.

Now that that is out of the way..

No emissions testing because the car is new (vehicles over 25 years or made after 2009 don't need to be checked in Clark, King, Pierce, Snohomish, or Spokane county).

EL vs UEL: For people daily driving, it seems to be up to preference. UEL is believed to provide more low-end torque, EL provides top end HP. Pick your poison.

Subaru sounds are not only known for being deep, but also to have the "rumble" from an UEL header. Deep tones can be achieved from just a catback. My Perrin resonated 2.5" catback exhaust (CBE) provides a very deep tone. Stock header is only slightly unequal so you won't get much of the rumble. Google "Tomei UEL + Invidia N1 FRS" that might hit the sound you are looking for.

FYI: Most performance gains (if that's a desire) from the exhaust are provided by changing the header and getting a tune. Many members on here trust the OFT for a quick and easy way to realize ~20HP.

Meetups happen everywhere. Not really sure how to provide more info on this as meetups just happen when they happen. 86Sessions puts on some good meets. You can find past postings from them in this same subforum for the Northwest. Those usually happen near Tacoma but are worth the trip.

Hope that helps and as @humfrz would say.........

Thanks Brayden_23. That’s the exact feedback I was looking for. I’m sure I could’ve found it eventually but this is a discussion forum and if folks want to discuss then go for it. You’re also welcomed to drop silly memes except that that’s not what I’m looking for. So for the useful info...thank you...as for the rest....no thanks.
