before someone starts yet another "2nd gen 86 thread". another Bestcar report via google translation.

This fall held Tokyo Motor Show 2019 Toyota exhibit model fastest information !!!

Will the "NEW 86 concept" also appear?
You can also expect to see a concept car that will give you an idea of the second generation 86. The second generation 86 is under development under the name of prototype type "860B" and is scheduled to debut in 2021.

Of course, BRZ also appears in co-development with Subaru as well as the current type. The platform is a carryover from the current model, and there is no change in being the FR of the vertically placed horizontally opposed 4-cylinder engine.

However, the engine has increased its displacement from the current 2L to 2.4L, improving power and torque. The spec is likely to be about 220ps maximum power and 24.0-25.0kgm maximum torque.

Isn't "860B" a Toyota V6 engine?

If they add more power and give the cars a better interior, push button start standard, better front bumpers etc, it could be a real winner.

And the price of the new and improved Twins with turbo power, shiny buttons, quite premium interior, fully adjustable suspension, faster than a Cayman, better looking than a 370Z, more reliable than a ....... Toyota from the 70's...... is a low $50k USD, or $71k AUD.............

You still buying?

Toyota and Subaru should be giving us wider range of choice when it comes to engine packages if they doing it on the Supra they should do it on the 86/BRZ.

Except the Supra is literally twice as expensive. Multiple engine options cost R&D money, which needs to be recuperated, and since the base engine is typically the most popular, it will hike the price of the base model.
