Did you get your valve springs repaired? Were you provided with a rental car? and how is your car driving now? any response at all would be greatly appreciated!

No, I have not. I am seriously considering not doing it at all. Not sure it's worth all the hassle to try and get Toyota to cover the cost of a new engine, fearing the worst. Also, being stuck with the labor bill for any botched work like that they should be covering is mega BS. Just my opinion. I'm at 29,000 kms and it's running so well for now. Aside from the tractory-cricket type sound it's always had at idle. I'm wondering really what the odds are that my springs would just "go" now. I hardly ever rev it past 6000rpm to begin with.

Mine was done at Heffner in Feb, and last week Cylinder #4 bearing took a crap. Now the dealer is looking for a used engine, and Toyota Canada is refusing to pay for it.

What was their reasoning? Did you ask them to drop the oil pan and examine the oil pickup screen?

Reviewing the thread, this makes it 2 confirmed cases after recall work done.
They sent me an email last time for next appointment noting the recall. No thanks... I have absolutely no faith in them.

The garage offered to change the clutch on my car too.. I was playing with an upgraded clutch and lightened flywheel. The garage was happy to fit the parts as long as I procured them.

Anyway, after some thinking and wise words from @humfrz I decided not to change the clutch etc (my car has only 11k under its tyres).

As the engine was coming out I splashed out on STI Group N engine and transmission mounts. Again, the garage has installed them but I've been unable to pick the car up.. another agonising week before I get behind the wheel!!

Obviously I'm not talking about your dealer... As I live in"Un-Known", nowhere near you guys..

Toyota Canada says it's out of warranty. I asked the service rep if there was something visible in the suspect places, but they said everything is clear (suure...) I did not look myself, time and transportation issues.

Hey guys, if you had engine problems after the recall, or if you are intentionally avoiding the recall for fear of engine trouble, send Ellen Roseman eroseman@thestar.ca a quick e-mail.

And yes, I eventually saw chunks of sealant stuck in my oil pickup mesh, but nobody is admitting to anything...

This is the point where you pick up the phone and call a lawyer.
