Scion FRS insurance
I'm sure you guys have seen many insurance questions, and I apologize if this is the most ignorant one you've had to answer --
I'm 17 trying to figure out how much my insurance will be for my FRS when i start driving it and purchase one soon (I'm going to be paying for it). I haven't had the opportunity to sit down with my parents and figure out the prices being put on their insurance plans but when I go online and try to do a quote by myself being an undergrad policy holder my rates are insaneeee. Will being on a plan with my parents as a child driver with good grades change that? Being the child and going online trying to set up the scenario myself is pretty hard |

Insurance can differ for all types of reasons. Especially that you're young, the insurance will be highly than usual. Also take into consideration what color you get. Different colors can also create higher insurance a month. Also, it depends on how much protection you want on your vehicle. I suggest you discuss this with your parents because all insurance payments differ.

I got my license when I was 22 and started driving when I got this car at 23. Insurance was $380-420 a month from Progressive. Turned 25 recently, switched to Esurance and now I'm down to $220. Still sucks but not as insane.
No matter what car, color, or deductible you choose, your rates will suck at that age. Insurance companies are more worried about your inexperience causing property or bodily damage to the other party. I don't remember even being asked about car color when doing online quotes. I also compared quotes for this car, Jeep Wrangler, Audi TT, and Toyota Camry; guess what, the premium was all around the same. Being put on your parent's insurance will raise their premium but should still be cheaper than two separate policies. Ask them for their insurance info, log into their insurance account online and run a policy change quote for adding a new car and driver. |

Geico gave me a rate of $110 with comprehensive and collision and state min. While progressive gave me $90. (Both with $500 deductible). But this is for a used 2013. The Geico rate for a new BRZ was about $130 in my case. Compared to $180 for the WRX limited.
You might get a lower rate if you buy a used car though. Depends on if the car is used or not and whether you get comprehensive and collision or not. Or jst go for state min. Color shouldn't make a difference. It does if you are in Singapore!! But I don't think in US it makes a difference. Being on your parents insurance might help. Credit scores can make a difference. If you buy th car right out might be a different story, then you can save a lot. Last edited by flyboy; 01-13-2017 at 06:12 AM. |

HOOORAY it is another insurance rate **** measuring contest thread.
OP Needs to contact his insurance company (and parents). The costs that 1,000 people will now list are worse than meaningless since they can be deceiving.

There are too many variables to effectively estimate a cost for you. You can add in the insurance plan (deductibles, coverage, multipolicy, etc.) that would change things in addition to what @Tcoat mentioned. One thing I can be certain is that, it'll be pretty expensive for a new driver. It takes time for the rates to come down if you are a safe and responsible driver.
When you do buy this car, I hope you enjoy it. It's a blast to drive.
