WHAT lol. I don’t remember that. That’s funny too because I’m one of the internet managers at my store

I don't see any reason why you would remember - it was over a year ago and I was a random walk-in. I'm sure you would have given me a better price over the internet

If you're in the want but not need, why not go for a new leftover 2018? I sort of went that route (2018 demo). Got a lot of bargaining power (a few thousand off msrp) and 0.5% interest over 60 months.

Also, I know you asked for production numbers but are you interested in sales numbers? Here's a monthly look by the years.

I don't buy new cars often. This will only be my second new car. The first was a 2003 Dodge RAM a long time ago. I'm sure I could pick up a 2018 with a good discount, but I want whatever is the latest at the time of purchase and am OK with paying a few grand extra if I find the right car.

They produced 250 series grey which I believe is the lowest number for a “special edition.” Still plenty of them out there too, and can most likely get a few grand of MSRP!

There were 250 50th AE produced too. If you want to get into specific versions of special editions, there's only 104 black tS's.

I think based on the 2019 sales numbers now just a few hundred per month, Toyota and Subaru will produce their 2019, and then move to a stronger 2020 or 2021 when it is ready. I am not sure they will produce a Gen1 2020 car, does anyone know?

Sales numbers are dropping steadily. Just 250 a month or so... on the BRZ side, but February seems to be a good month to work out on a dealer. More and more of America does Uber and Lyft every day and February Sales data is not healthy even for a brand that has a lot of brand power like Subaru.

What?
SUBARU OF AMERICA, INC. REPORTS BEST-EVER FEBRUARY SALES

  • Best February ever – monthly sales increase 3.9 percent over February 2018

As far as the BRZ sales numbers go the winter months are historically poor. They know what they want to sell and build accordingly. "low" sales numbers on a niche sports car mean nothing. They are not targeting huge numbers. Never have.
Important to note that ALL of sports cars are down. When looked at in perspective the BRZ drop is peanuts.

Nobody knows what they will produce for 2020 or beyond. There has been loads of speculation but no facts. We haven't even seen a "second gen" concept yet. My speculation is that it will be one of two things. Either very similar to what there is now with no major power bumps or other changes or it will be so radically different it will be the same car in name only.

What you will never see is what we have with any significant power increase. The platform wasn't built for it.

I think what you are pointing out is that everyone is unhealthy in Feb 2019. It is true that all sports car numbers are anemic for sure.

Yep. You can not take sales numbers for one model in total isolation from the rest and gain any useful info from them.

There was a point last year where Mustang sales were down 75%. Don't think they looked at that and said "OK well that is the end of that model".

Sales numbers are down across the board so far this year. That includes SUVs and trucks.

The only deal I've seen for the BRZ is a special financing rate through Subaru.

If Subaru doesn't work for you, head over to Toyota. They have $1,500 cash back offers for 2019 models. If you can find a leftover 2018, I bet they would be willing to deal. That is if you can find a manual. I'm searching around and all of the local dealers have a lot of GT automatics, but the only manuals are TRD models.

I keep track of my local Subaru dealer and they usually get 2-3 manuals at a time (mostly performance packages) and they seem to sell within 1-2 months of arrival. I can't recall ever seeing an auto BRZ in their inventory over the prior 2+ years.

I can verify it's a similar situation over in California as well for both Subaru and Toyota. Toyota does have the cash-back offer, but they tend to be much harder to negotiate with. When I bought my car I had talked with several Toyota dealerships, and negotiating in-person really didn't help as they kept stonewalling on any deals, saying how cheap the car was with the cash-back offer. Maybe you'll have better luck if you find a dealership that has a surplus of 2018 models.

The Subaru sales people were much-more to the point and had the better negotiated offers combined with the financing rate over a longer period of time. The only BRZs that tend to sit in the Subaru lots from my conversations with the Subaru sales guys are all the limited editions, which tend to sit for more than several months.

I went Premium when I bought my BRZ and if I could do it again I'd probably get Limited or TS now. I love my premium, particularly because I favor cloth seats and didn't want a spoiler but the cluster gauge looks so much cooler on the limited!
