Interesting. How would the Blitz Nur-Spec R do in this regard?
I am classed in STX so I have to have a cat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ4biMTDZL4"]Blitz Nur-Spec F-Ti exhaust + Berk HFC front pipe Scion FRS Subaru BRZ sound clip - YouTube[/ame] This sound clip is of the F-Ti one-piece titanium exhaust, almost the same sound but titanium construction. The front pipe is Berk w/ HFC, stock headers... so you can imagine it being much louder with headers. If you ultimately want something that is quiet and is STX legal, you should consider either 1) modifying your front pipe with a large resonator welded in where the stock resonator would sit, or 2) ditching it entirely and getting either the Apex'i header/OP/FP w/ cat setup or the HKS version. A third option is to run catted headers and a quiet straight through front pipe of your choosing, but the power gains aren't as much. This setup is daily driven by someone I know and it is very quiet. Just bought the header, ceramic coated, and had it installed.
Big ouch. I was looking for that last bit of HP. I suppose I could get the JDL ultra quiet down pipe. Its catted and has a resonator as you suggest. I actually would like to try the single exit but how loud would that setup be. Lol 😂 Ok thanks for the replies and suggestions. Yours still available??? I'm a sucker for punishment. Also, at this point I'll live with loud, no more than 102 db, but the drone has got to go.

Update on the drone. It seems to have settled down quite a bit. Drone has gone, still louder than before but not bad. I guess the ECU has adjusted to the new setup and quieted everything down. MUCH happier.
Have to check the db levels now. The SCCA limit is 100db. Some places are at 90db. At 35 ft i believe. Still interested in the Blitz thou? Still got it?? |

Drone is usually because there is a harmonic frequency that the exhaust is generating, and it is amplified because of 1) lack of sound suppression baffles, or 2) resonator size is ineffective for the noise you are trying to cancel. In essence, the exhaust system (as a whole) is doing a poor job of sound suppression because of mismatched parts. Your solution remains the same as what I listed above. Just because the exhaust is quiet on my setup that I've tested is by no means a guarantee that it will be quiet on all other setups. This is what I've been trying to preach for the last 2 years on forums... I've done this exhaust business for close to 20 years now and one thing I learned a long time ago is that I make no guarantee on what the exhaust will sound like if you do not replicate exactly what I've tested with before. -alex |

If I go this route, I would get the JDL ultra quiet front pipe. That would match the header at least. The header, being catless will be expected to be louder than the recorded setup you posted.
I've had my current setup for 3 yrs now. In between seasons and guess I'm getting restless. Curiosity did kill the cat after all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Entirely up to you.
We had two cars in STX this past year. One ran a Fujitsubo EL header, Berk front pipe w/ HFC, and the Blitz F-Ti exhaust. The other car ran the aforementioned Apex'i setup with the same exhaust. The car with the Berk HFC front pipe almost shakes the entire building when we fire it up in the garage. YMMV. -alex |

Yikes. Then again maybe I'll leave well enough alone and buy some front control arm bushings and call it a day.
