Yeah I mean urethane melts around 500F an exposed header sitting 6-8 inches from it running up to 1700F. Something will give.

I also wanted to add that with aftermarket headers and especially turbo kits with dyno time and not proper airflow under the engine, additional shielding and wrapping is going to absolutely needed on the header if it's going to be used with either the stock engine mounts or aftermarket mounts. These cars aren't built from the factory to be FI, so wrapping, shields, will need to be used.
On a dyno with not enough air flowing through the engine compartment, this can happen in just one hot run! 1700 will be the EGT, radiant heat will be more around 1000 on a header, but yes that is hot! We use basically the same bushing in our STI/WRX headers, and haven't had an issue at all, and those run very close to the header as well. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, I don't think the STI/WRX platform has a factory sealed oven called an engine bay like the 86's do. Maybe they do, I don't know, I'm a mitsu guy >.>

I have an EGT gauge i've seen 1100-1280 just driving around town tonight. I'll have to go back and check some logs to see what the high is. My headers are ceramic coated. I guess i'll be wrapping them now to prevent further issue. I have every part to keep the engine bay temps in check. I even spent the cash on a vented hood to get some air flow. I think evasive might be right in going with solid mounts is probably the next route.
The car has spent time on a dyno. They were all equipped with turbo fans |

I just bought and installed these as.part of my build this weekend. I guess I'll find out soon enough since I drive a ton (over 40,000 miles logged.) They will go through several heat cycles in a short period.

I checked the passenger side mount yesterday and its not melting. I used to have the AVO turbo down there which I think would produce even higher temperatures in the area.
I am not planning on re-installing the engine bottom metal tray anytime soon.

Coming up we will be installing a built engine and with it upgraded mounts. We will be using products similar to these listed below for heat shields on the mounts. Similar to how many factory cars come when the mounts are close to exhaust parts. As well not everyone is a fan of wrapping exhaust parts, and to a point with good reason but it does help. Below are some manufacture parts listings that may help. Hope you get your situation sorted and I am sure perrin will help get you right.

i still have stock mounts, not melted at all. no issues at all with them, actually. holding up just fine, been boosted for ~9k+ miles now. my header is wrapped, so maybe that helps.
i had planned on perrin mounts if and when mine start causing problems, but i think i'll go with solid mounts instead now. |

From RSD: Looks like it has a far lower urethane or rubber content versus the Perrin bushings. |
