Design wise, I dislike everything north of the A Pillar. The nose is like a cheap Enzo kit car. The hood that takes of the entire fender is disgusting. And the car looks too narrow for its height. The interior is entirely BMW. I don't mind BMW interiors, as they're a nice place to be... but when I get into my $50,000 Toyota, I want to sit in a Toyota. Not a BMW.

Maybe that is the dry weight? The press release says 3,397 lbs.

I fully agree. The actual dimensions don't stop it from looking taller and narrower than the 86.

could be a non-US model.

or just an old report with rumors. "In its March 2018 issue... Weight: 3284 lbs"

i would trust the US press release

At Ats are heavy, slow and under-powered. Probably auto as well. A small, light speeder will kick their ass every time. They will never sell and only women will want them!

Hard to tell in pictures and even videos. They always seem to take them from an angle that you would only see if you were 3 feet tall. All auto journalists must be height impaired. May look fine in person.

Could be old rumors mixed into the article which was posted today. Either way, I agree the Toyota press release is the thing to trust.

See, that is my distrust of internet "journalism". They may be close but not close enough to say "this is what it is/will be". The very fact that they can't even get a basic number correct when it has been officially published is enough to make me doubt everything they write. The fun part is that the other sites will just grab the info from them and the wrong weight will be spread like wildfire and loads of people will scream "it is lighter than they said".

Actually, I have had a change of mind on that. You are right that the dimensions can look differently than reality. This is classic optical illusions stuff.

The narrow nose, narrow cabin and round fenders can give the car a narrow look. Whereas, the 86 is more flat and squared off.

This car reminds me a lot of the Dodge Viper. It can look funky, but in person, as Tcoat said, it all seems to come together.
