A/T BRZ fitted with AVO Stage 1 Turbokit

Drift Office just finished up the install of the AVO Turboworld BRZ/FR-S Stage 1 Turbo Kit on a BRZ Automatic. The turbo kit supplied was our first full production kit with the updated exhaust manifold, heat shield and other touch, and with the full ceramic coating. From their report, the install went smoothly with little to no issues. Straight onto the dyno it went, flashed with our Stage 1 basemap for the Automatics.

it's a little rich, but it was running on 92 octane vs. the 91 octane we have planned for as minimum

The dyno runs were done at 4.7psi with a stock cross-over pipe, stock secondary catted pipe, and a HKS 2.5" resonated cat-back exhaust. Wheels were 18-inch TSW Nurburgrings. No other modifications.

Gains are quite good for the bolt in and go setup with basemap. And it comes in quick!

I'm sure Bob will be massaging a bit more out of this as well. Very nice!

That's the now-useless sound tube that goes into the passenger cabin.

Install Mini-Review

So here are my thoughts on the first PRODUCTION AVO Turboworld Turbo Kit for the FRS / BRZ.

This being our second install, I can clearly say that the fit and finish is MUCH better than the pre-production model we had previously. The quality of the ceramic coating too, is well worth the extra dollars.

Truthfully, the kit will take you somewhere between 10 and 12 hours to install, given an average and depending on your skill(s), your mileage will vary of course. Upon unpacking the kit, you'll find a comprehensive manual (in ENGLISH) that would serve you well as a guide as you go down the path of force induction; know that with each passing page, you are THAT much closer to achieving your next "upgrade" for the car.

There are bags clearly labeled that correspond with the parts list in the manual, and almost everything is supplied sans a pair of gloves and some basic supplies like grease / lubricants and tools. Just about the only thing we found to be of a hindrance in completion was how tight fitting everything is, fittings included. I suppose when you build it to a certain tolerance and knowing how little room we have (relatively speaking) - AVO has done an incredible job here.

When working on custom jobs of any sort, it pays to be prepared. I was pleasantly surprised that after our through installation, nothing leaked, and everything worked as we put the vehicle on the dyno for our Pro-Tune session... But that's another story altogether.

The bottom line : If there was an OEM level turbo kit for the FRS / BRZ, it would be AVO, no question about it!

My 2 cents!

I'd say...
  • 215 WHP / 176# TQ (SAE Corrected) @ 4.6PSI (Stage 1 Tuned)

  • Peak Boost @ 2700 RPM (!!!)

  • > 150# Torque 2700 RPM - 7000 RPM

Now just imagine what Stages 1.5 & 2.0 would do...

Cheers!
