Hi guys if anyone is interested in getting a UniChip tune, you can contact Bin Omar at the mentioned number. On a completely stock car and it made about 12 engine hp. For a lightweight car this is a very significant difference, the car when I had it felt more aggressive but, in the same time the tuner eliminated the occasional knock we hear. Here is a dyno run of my car.

Thanks for the info. Is this legal and non-expensive? I mean, it won't void warranty? Just hit 7,500 kms.

Its is legal but, the dealer may void the warranty if he found the piggy back unit (unichip). Its usually hidden in a place where it cannot be easily found.

However, dealers are sneaky because even if they found the device and the car is running fine, then they wouldn't inform you that your warranty is void. They want you to keep bringing in the car for service to pay them. However, if something happens to the car (not necessarily from the unichip) then they will inform you that your warranty is void and charge you for repairs.

The benefits of a unichip is in most cars its not traceable with a diagnostic system like ecu reflash used by other tuners. Its about 3700aed (call 0506243588 for exact price) for install and dyno tune. Approximately 1500aed cheaper than Ecutek, and most importantly it can be removed and sold for at least half it price, unlike Ecutec tunes that can't be sold. Furthermore, you can use the Unichip on any other car, I used it on 3 different cars before installing it on the 86 and plan to install it on my next car (hopefully Golf 7 R or A45).

By the way, there is now an increasing number of Unichip tuners in Dubai and Abu Dhabi but, I personally prefer Bin Omar as he is the first one who bought Unichip and tunes at least 5 cars a day for more than 8 years. Therefore, its highly unlikely thathis tune wwill result in any damage.

How much for just the tune? I don't need anyone to install the Unichip for me, it's so simple.

Hi everyone. Hoping to join the UAE group soon, (well provided I get my hands on a 86 soon!).

Going to check out a second hand deal today evening. Made a thread about it, well posting here as well. Anything in particular that I need to check/inspect/review before going ahead (Besides the usual items for a second hand vehicle).

Thanks!

I was reading your separate thread, did Al Futtaim really told you to wait 1-2 months? Because I still don't think 86 is popular enough in UAE.

That depends on your budget and how long you can wait. If you have the money and you still have other car to drive for 1-2 months I suggest to wait. Plenty of people really don't know how to maintain car or to drive properly in Dubai. This is general for all cars, not only just for 86.

But if you really tight on your budget and need a car soon or you really getting a good deal then go ahead.
- check the oil level, coolant, and the brake fluid level.
- Check the service history with AFM, when was the last service. You need this to ensure warranty still valid.
- For A/T cars there is separate thread about oil leaks from side of the engine, you might want to check that one.
- check for modifications: air intake, exhaust, rims/suspension that might void the warranty.

Yep, expected next lot of cars in November 2013.

I thought the same thing, since during my last visit to AFM in Abu Dhabi (in June), they had a mid-AT model for sale at about 109 or something.

I totally agree with the first aspect. However I would only be able to decide, once I see the vehicle.

It's a saving of 30k AED as well, which can probably be spent on doing up the car (if the car is in as good a shape as the owner suggests it is).

Got someone I know in AFM, who should be able to confirm the service history of the vehicle.

Oil Leak from side of engine - Yikes, this one I gotta be careful about.

Thanks for the tips!! Much appreciated!

The A/T are amazingly popular here. I'm not surprised that there is a wait for one.

Guys where in Dubai can you spot a nice empty parking lot where you can be wild for a minute or two? :p Can't test the 86's traction control off + sport mode in normal round abouts. Somewhere safe but not too strict.

There is a huge parking space at Motorcity opposite of the fitness first signal behind kojak building, mostly it's empty
