Epic Road Recommendations?

Hi All,

Polling opinions here. Last year my girlfriend rented me a GT-R for my birthday and I took it down HWY17/HWY9, up HWY 1 across 84 La Honda to Skyline. By far my favorite spread of driving roads and the usual haunting grounds.

She has warned me ahead of time that this year will include another rental (HELL YESS )... Question is, should I explore the East Bay roads? Pickup is near 101/237 area.

I will have a mileage limit of 200 miles, show me your recommendations! Please keep in mind I like to keep traffic and the police to a minimum, curves and excellent roads to a maximum!

I posted my response in the DRIVE thread. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...postcount=3122

but yeah Hwy 84 & Skyline would be at the top of my list too.

Panoramic Highway out to Stinson beach is another good one and then down Hwy 1. Otherwise for a car like that I would say nothing beats La Honda/Skyline/Hwy 9.

Thanks for the input guys. No doubt the mileage limit will factor into my decision as I don't want to waste miles on boring stretches of road or traffic.

Palomares and Mines were mentioned, and I think Patterson is smoother and better than both of those.

I would say Mines from San Jose and going no further than The Junction would be good. I don't drive Palomares enough to compare. More of it for me is the size of the car vs width of the road as the other are 2 lanes. Lol Especially if you arent familiar with Patterson Pass. Tesla wouldnt be bad though

That would be good. Del Puerto only has one or two bad parts bht they are easily avoided if looking ahead

I basically have a "do not recommend" status for Mines Rd right now. The side from Livermore to the Junction is full of gravel and that makes it not as fun as it used to be. There are still some good sections but overall it's a killjoy. If you have a rental and you just don't care about the car, then sure have at it.

Or maybe since you are starting in that general area, Redwood road, something, something, Clayton road/Marsh Creek/Camino Diablo, Vasco, Altamont Road, Highway 5, Del Puerto Canyon, Lunch at the Junction, San Antonio Valley (Mines)/Mt. Hamilton road.

That would probably be close to 175 miles if I had to guess.
