Anyone need some summer extreme performance tires? I have a set of 215/45/17 Federals RS-R that are just sitting in my garage. Brand new. I'd rather get rid of them than have them sit in my garage for the next 5 months. Not sure why I bought them 1 month before winter season. They're in the same category as the Dunlop Direzza II, Hankook RS3, and Bridgestone RE11A.

Whats the rule of thumb regarding when to switch to winter tires? Is it a temperature thing or snow forecast etc? Sorry for the wintery questions but this is the first winter (with snow and all) that I'll be driving in. I'm not from around here originally.

If you're running summer tires once temps get below 40F you should be switching. If you have all-season tires it's really just a matter of getting them on when or before snow starts.

Thanks Neutron! Will be switching from the stock tires. So far the forecast seems be around 45 F average for the next week.

I'd wait until we get our first inch of snow and temps stay around 30 degrees. Any higher temps could cause abnormal wear (since winter tires are gummier by nature) and the tires do have a specific break in cycle.

How do you like them? I have been playing with this idea but want to look at doing the Porsche cayman style fogs with LEDs but don't have the time to design it right now.

So I am now in complete winter mode....For those of you that are wondering when to put the tires on wait another week maybe 2.

I forgot how much wiggle huge sidewalls create when its just in the temp range for winter tires. I remember being so broke back in the day when I had to drive winter tires all year because my summer tires were stolen. I don't know how I did that.

Is TPMS supposed to come on if you done have the sensors (mine hasn't come on)? I have never owned a car that has them so I am just curious if discount tire put them in for free or not...

So, I got the first service for my FR-S done today (it's going into storage for winter from the next week ) and as soon as I got home, noticed that there was paint chipped off a small spot near the right head lamp.

I can see the bare metal in that spot now Does anybody have any suggestion on how I could fix this? so that the spot does not become a starting point for rust in the future..

Will post some pics tomorrow.
