We'd recommend cleaning the filter every 8-10,000 miles for the best flow. Also make sure to use a foam filter cleaner, Uni Filter foam filter cleaner is the best.

We actually can't ship the cleaner, since it's an aerosol, but we recommend cleaning it with Unifilter foam filter cleaner. It'll come with the cleaner and oil. You should be able to find it at a local ATV or dirt bike shop.

Easily can be ordered online as well from several shops. Isn't too expensive either.

@Sony, have been meaning to write and say thank you for this DIY and review. Followed it to the T and had no issues with the install of my Perrin CAI and also the Perrin Inlet. Speaking from a girls perspective who's had moderate time fixing/modding cars, this was a fairly simple install. I wanted to do this on my own and my fiance was nice enough to take a step back and offer his help when I needed it.

We did his Injen CAI on his '05 tC many years ago, which involved taking a driving side liner off, turning the wheel as far as it will go to the side, and snaking the intake down trying hard to not make contact with the engine bay so as to not scratch it. I would say that install was a tad harder than this install, as once you get the bumper off of the FRS it's smooth sailing.

I appreciate the compliment, I try to write my reviews the way I would want to read them. Easy and with tons of detail so that even an idiot could install it. My Instructions are often more detailed than the instructions that come from the factory.

@Sony I appreciate the details because I am OCD when it comes to taking apart things and putting them back together. It's like you were in my brain, answering all my questions before they even formed!
@jflogerzi Agreed! Literally put the bumper back in place in less than 5 minutes. Took a bit longer to take it off because it was my first time with the FRS and I was being paranoid, Haha!

Is the filter on your CAI dry or oiled?

It's Oiled Foam, unlike a typical K&N filter which is oiled cotton.

Can you use a cone filter on Perrins CAI for more air intake or is the Perrin filter far superior for performance?

The PERRIN intake comes with a high flow foam filter already, you can replace it with another type of filter if you'd like to, as long as it's the right size. We really like the foam filters since they do a great job of filtering out dirt, and maintaining flow even when they're dirty.
