I think the frs would still outperform the s2k under those circumstances. Better chassis is the key

That's my assumption as well. The real comparison between FT86 and S2000 comes down the the pure rawness the s2k has that you won't get out of the 86.

Build quality is better in the s2k but feature set is 1 million times better in the 86...

That's what I wanna see!

Oft+ofh on e85 or 91. I think it would be interesting how it matches up against a stock s2k. I think it would be close on 91(3) but I think the frs would take the advantage on e85.

I was referring originally to if toyota had spent another couple hundred thousands/million on R&D to develop higher quality parts and create a tune without a torque dip AKA how I wish the car had come from the factory 200+ WHP N/A.

It's achievable but won't have a warranty and is gonna cost me money

And that's going to put the list price up what 20%? Oh s**t it's now priced identically to the 370Z which is pushing out 330ps .

In the UK at least the pricing of the BRZ makes total sense when you look at it analytically. It's about the price of the cheapest MX5 2.0i. It's a touch more expensive than the 156ps Pug RCZ & about 10% cheaper than the 200ps version. It's 20% cheaper than the base 370Z. The remaining competition around its price point are these FWD pseudo-coupe hatchback things which the BRZ is a real alternative to for those who want a pure sports car rather than a mildly disguised & boring hot-hatch (even though they will be much faster in a straight line & probably round a track).

Not necessarily, the car may be slightly more expensive but as it sits you can get fully equipped brz limiteds for 26k here. Compared to a 370z base is 28k. I've driven a 370z and wasn't ultimately a fan it felt numb and the build quality was only slightly better than a 350z I'd take a 250hp BRZ with all the amenities over a base 370z if the prices were the same for sure. I priced out a 370z as a new daily and it didn't make sense because equipped as I wanted it would cost closer to 40K and I'm now in used C6 Z06 territory

Maybe I'm missing something but spec for spec it looks like the US 370Z is about 20-30% more expensive than the US BRZ. It's just you can put a lot more on a 370Z.

You can put as much on any car that you want. If I could go back and do it all over again I'd have an atom3 and a c7 as a DD

I'm looking at factory options here. I take a BRZ & a 370Z & get two cars which have more-or-less identical option sets & they're about 20-30% different in price.

I had an Atom2 for a year, and it was a complete pain in the ass to get registered and insurance was a joke. I heard the Atom3 was worse?

C7 is a no brainer. That seems like its the best bang for the buck as a track car you can daily.

The guys I have tracked with who have 370z said they have plenty of issues with cooling and brakes. But with making the right changes it's fast.
But that car is quite expensive here for what it is. (US)

In nh it wouldn't be terrible I'd imagine my current insurance for my s2000 is based on appraised value. Doesn't really matter tho I can't afford an atom at current prices with going through cars like I do

It was fine for first 6 months then the renewal was absurd. Sold it and got Lotus which was a different version of the same story.
Ill take the S2k and FRS over them any day
