Photos: Construction of 600hp Scion/Greddy FR-S Race Car
Here's some great pics giving a behind the scenes look into the construction of the 600hp FR-S Race Car by Scion Racing and Greddy. It will compete in the 2012 Formula DRIFT series with veteran driver Ken Gushi (pictured below) behind the wheel.
I've also included the photos from the car's debut at the 2012 NAIAS last month. Thanks to member just86. More pics, courtesy of Shimizzle: Cosworth CS600 series EJ25 long block G-Force GSR 4 Speed transmission DEBUT PHOTOS FROM 2012 NAIAS |

Man...KW's for the FR-S. Those are amazing coilovers. I wonder if we'll get the Variant 2's or 3's or ClubSports.

Awesome photos. Noticed they didn't really show any engine shots...I'm curious to see how an EJ looks in there. - Andrew |

I'm pretty sure they used a turbo EJ motor just to keep things "simple" (no research/development time except maybe some fitment issues).

This just illustrates why it's totally meaningless when a race car looks like a production car. The frame might as well just be another sponsor decal.
The process & finished product are cool, but they have nothing to do with a production model. |

Either way, that's great you're pushing head first into the FR-S because its promising for the industry.

I think it is kind of interesting how they completely skipped the Engine and Transmission stages of the build....Probably because they didn't want to release the fact that they are using an EJ25 Cosworth STI motor in a Scion???
