This looks so much better to me than the production car.

^^^This.

But I'm probably one of the few who actually prefer the layout and design of the C7- the traditional V8 long hood, rear cab, center quad exhaust. The C8's rear looks too much like the Camaro now.

And why are American cars so big? Lol. I think the Mustang, Camaro and Challenger are HUGE. It only makes sense that they put in a V8.

The C7 was already too big to me, but the C8's width and length are even greater.

I wonder what GM could do if they brought back the (proper sportscar-sized) mid-engined Fiero?

I would have preferred GM kept a front engine model together with C8. C7 and C8 are totally different cars and I believe there is market for both of them.

they'd break things. Even 500 pounds off the c8 would be amazing.

Camaro is muscle car. I meant a sports car. I admit; with the extensive hightech suspension aids, many cars can handle like a sports car and Camaro handles as well. But still, that doesn't make it a sports car ... at least, I don't look at Camaro as a sports car.

Well, at least until 2023 when the Camaro is up in the air as to whether it will be continued as is, moved to the VSS-R platform (which isn't expected until 2025), made a BEV, or cancelled once again altogether.

I find it hard to believe Chevy would leave the RWD muscle/pony/sports car realm altogether but who knows.

The Camaro is a sports car in it's own right. Not all of it's performance comes from trick suspension. The chassis (Alpha platform) gets consistent praise in every iteration it shows up in. The new breed of muscle/pony cars, Ford and GM makes, are excellent sports cars. The only one still not getting the memo is Dodge, they're pandering to the muscle car market hard with their overpowered, under handling bloatmobile (Challenger/Hellcat).

Let's not forget this abomination that they promote as a "sports/muscle car".

Ugh, how much longer can they ride that butchered Diamler/E-Class chassis?

Looks to me like until they get to the bank....

EDIT: *just realized that's Challenger sales, not Charger, this site doesn't consider the Charger a "muscle or sports car". Dodge has sold 71,106 Chargers as of the end of September (7,900 per month)

Source data.

Oh no doubt they're popular, just as a performance POV they're lacking super hard. They definitely fill that gap of nostalgic lazy muscle cars.

The Road and Track First Look has been posted online. Short version, they are grading it good because they know Chevy has plans in future versions to be great, but they aren't so sure about the transmission.
