I installed front camber bolts yesterday, and noticed that the front sway bar bracket, right-side, front-bolt, was loose! This also explained the creaking in the front right (going over bumps, pulling into a driveway on the right), which I dismissed for polyurethane bushings. After testing the neg. camber up front around the neighborhood, everything torqued to spec :p, the squeaking was loud enough that I was not going to be taking the car anywhere knowing there was a bigger issue at hand. And voila, under a hard brake to a full stop, the ABS / Traction Control lights both came on. Then it hit me the play in the bracket was causing this light to come on as soon as there was enough load to jiggle it. This morning, I removed the front sway bar, properly tightened the bracket bolt, and torqued everything else down to spec. as well, including rear sway bar brackets/endlinks. After a rigorous hour in the twisties, I did not see the light go on. I even tested the brakes, (braking improved significantly with neg. front camber), coming to a full, hard stop several times. No issues at all, I am happy to report. |

After car wash wheels were sprayed and the same three lights came on again. I'm going to assume it's the wheel sensor again. Hopefully when it dries it will reset itself

Anyone else have other ideas/opinions on what could cause the Traction light and ABS light to turn on?
It just happened to me tonight while coming to stop at a red light. I figured instead of making a whole new thread with basically the same issue, I'd just post in here. Anyways, the lights turned on while driving. I pulled over and shut the car off. Let it sit for about a minute and started the car up again. Lights went away, but shortly after taking off and stepping on the brake pedal, both lights came back on. I did this about three times on my way home. When I got home, I noticed that my brake lights weren't working either. Parking lights, reverse lights, and turn signals all work fine. Checked the 7.5A brake light fuse underneath the dash, and it was blown. Replaced it with a new one, stepped on the brakes, and they still didn't work. Checked the new fuse, and it was blown as well. My car does have JDM TOMS tail lights and the Valenti rear brake/fog light/reverse light (modified it for the triangle to stay off and flash/light up when brake pedal is pressed...V light works fine along with parking lights on taillights) My driver side tail light connector wires on the car harness side had to be resoldered because they tore apart when I installed he wire tap connectors supplied with the Valenti light. So I will have to check all connections, but wanted to know could a short in the taillights or Valenti light cause the ABS light and Traction light to turn on? I want to say it could be the brake light switch as well so I'll have to check it also. |

Also, ultimately, I had to change my brake light stop switch (above brake pedal) to fix my problem. Subaru also has a TSB on it, but not Toyota/Scion. |

It's in the fuse box under the dash it's a 7.5 amp fuse and if you look at the lid to the box you will see one that says tail I believe. I could be wrong I lost the lid lol.

So my brake lights work.. signals n all. I had a similar issue before, but instead of ABS it was the engine light and it said "system too lean". do you think it could be the same thing? Or just improper alignment and my ass is sitting too low due to my coil overs?
