The shifter I got was a GTO G8 GTA shifter which is a copy of a ripshifter. I looked at it yesterday and it was a little low but everything else looked good.

I haven't installed the mrs device yet. I get the wiring harness by Saturday and will install it then. After that its driveshaft and exhaust and checking everything over. Then start it up.

Does the GTO shifter bolt right to the Camaro t56 or do you need the different tail shaft housing?

GTO shifter bolts right on and moves the shifter housing slightly to the rear. The handle is what moves it to the rear the most. No need for a different tail housing.

Not yet. Wiring harness is waiting at the house. Flew back to the states for my dads memorial service and ashes scattering. Should be done with electrical this week then exhaust next week.

Oh I see. Sorry to here that! When you get home, do you think you could mount the shifter and snap a picture? I wanted to see where this would put the GTO shifter or Camaro shifter

Here is a picture of the shifter in place. Finished tightening the trans mounts and installing the shifter. Now just have to figure out a knob. Got the manifolds installed from an ls2 corvette and used my O2 sensors. Everything with the manifolds is fitting well. Wiring harness on the engine, just have figure out the knock sensors. I am using 2 in the valley and the harness is made for an ls2 with side sensors. Driveshaft is shipping, should be here next week. Had to remove the rear light sensor from the transmission. Trying to figure that one out too.

Got a lot further in the wiring today. Installed the mrs device and ran the wiring harness through the firewall. Also finished the shifter boot. Oem scion rubber boot fit around the shifter pretty well. Also plugged the backup light switch with a 16x1.5 plug due there being no room for the connector. Next should be reassembly of the dash, cleaning up the wiring harness, and exhaust. Anyone have a recommendation for trans oil?

I know for the magnum xl the transmission builder said to use MTF for the transmission. Not sure if gm recommends the same for that transmission.

Thank you very much for the pics!!! Looks like maybe a standard F body shifter might work. Guess we will see when you go to put the factory trim ring on how it truly fits the console. Also what is the reverse light switch hitting? Maybe you could dent the tunnel a bit?

few more questions if you dont mind.

1: How much room do you now have between the firewall and engine/intake? Much room to remove bellhousing bolts? pictures?
2: what angle did you install the trans? Have you look into that yet? Would hate to have the driveshaft make noise due to angle.
3: ac lines on the firewall an issue? I know we need custom lines but is there room to still mount to firewall?

maybe this would work if we turn the block to the rear vs the side.

MGW makes some really really nice shifters

Dude is doing this in Guam! Knowing how much fun it is to get ANYTHING on an island, I gotta admire the audacity of this build.

As to the "Straight line" I again reference "Cause Guam": There are no straight roads on that island. The total landmass is really only equivalent to a 15 mile by 15 mile square.

By the way, OP... how is everyone holding up on the most newsworthy piece of real-estate this last week?
