Can anyone tell me the function of each of these wires?
This is the 28-pin harness that comes out from behind our dash and normally plugs into the back of our factory HUs. I've purchased an aftermarket Android HU and this harness has nowhere to go on the new unit. After install, my door speakers no longer work, so I was wondering if the amp lead is sitting in this now-unused harness. I'm also trying to hook up an aftermarket back-up camera, and I was wondering if the reverse trigger wire is sitting in there also. The new unit actually has a reverse wire on the back, so I'm guessing I need to connect the two wires - well, it'll be three wires, including the reverse lead running in parallel with the yellow RCA coming from the camera. (??) Any help here will be greatly appreciated. =)

People have used the AX-SUB28SWC to connect their HU to the OEM connector. I have AX-TOY28SWC though, but I have yet to hook it up. There's some repinning that will need to be done; use Akuma147's guide for that.
The difference between the two, as far as I recall, is that the Subaru one has a video cable for the backup camera (make sure to use a 12-6V step-down converter for the backup cam). Let me know when you get your door speakers working - I'm in the same boat.

Scroll down to page 39 of the pdf file in Adobe Acrobat Reader.
2014_S-ADG-0158-D.pdf My backup camera install: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...5&postcount=20 The reverse trigger wire on the 28 pin harness is pin #2 on the top side. If your door speakers are not working there maybe a problem with the 10P+6P Power and Speaker connectors and your Android HU. 10 pin plug wires: pin numbers read top right to left and then bottom right to left. Battery Constant 12V+ Wire: Orange - pin 4 Accessory Switched 12V+ Wire: Red - pin 3 Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Black - pin 2 Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Yellow - pin 6 Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Blue - pin 1 Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Black/Blue - pin 5 Ground: Black/Blue – pin 7 Illumination: Purple – pin 10 Factory Amp Turn On: Brown – pin 9 Would be nice to know what Android HU it is so someone here who has the same HU can help you. So given this information, I've figured out the problem: For whatever reason, Pin 9 is incorrectly pinned; this was the case with @Bonburner and @rixter145, both of whom have Seicane (or similar) headunits, and is also the same case with me, and more than likely is the same case with the OP as well. However, Pins 8 and 9 on my harness has two blue wires on it, which are irrelevant for my application. For whatever reason, my unit and harnesses appear to be slightly different from those two. Not sure if I received the wrong harness or Seicane changed something, because I do not appear to be able to simply re-pin the harness as those two were able to. I'm not sure what harness OP has, though. By the way, OP: the 28-pin connector is irrelevant for fixing the sound issues. |

I agree he should have searched more in general, however. |

It's all good.
Anyway... I just got my door speakers working! And it was something so simple I should jave noticed from Day One. In my box, there is a separate harness that contains the amp wire, and it is meant to plug into the blue wires on pins 8 and 9 (the same ones I thought were previously irrelevant for my application) via two connectors on each end. Simply connect those two, cover them with the included clear rubber sleeves, plug both harnesses into their appropriate locations on the headunit, and test it out. Both door speakers should now be fully functional! NOTE: This works for the 2013-2016 FR-S, 2013-2015 BRZ, and I assume the 2017-2018 86. For the 2016 and up BRZ, Subaru has put the amp wire in the 28-pin connector for the Starlink radio. So this won't work, but there are solutions for those models as well. This is what is provided in the box: Take #7: AUTO-ANT and #8: AMP-CON and join the ends together. I'm surprised at how stupidly simple this was. Seicane appears to have addressed this issue since receiving complaints about the amp wire, and for that I give them kudos. |

Sorry to necro, but I think I'm running into the same issue but for the reverse camera. Is there any wire in or around the 28-pin that contains the Back/Reverse signal?
