I feel like you are being vague for a reason. Any reason not to spell it out? Judgement? Trying to create a product to sell and don't want to give away your secretes? Kinda confusing.

I see. So the adapter was conveniently a necessary spacer.

Someone has some photoshop skills. The engine bay pic was well done too. Nice execution on the hood.

would you consider redoing the swap with the engine/transmission moved closer to the firewall to avoid the protrusion? maybe use a different transmission?

I don’t think a different transmission is necessary unless the torque limit on the transmission was challenged. The transmission can get moved back, but then it is necessary to make custom transmission mounts, custom driveshaft, custom shifter linkage and obviously redo the engine mounts, while possibly needing to do a custom oil pan to clear the front sway bar and/or steering rack. At that point might as well upgrade transmissions, but then he would need a new adapter/bell housing, new clutch, possibly a hydraulic TOB, maybe a custom flywheel, etc. It seems like his goal was a budget build, which negates a lot of this.

No, the modification to the body would be costly, new mounting points would have to get fabricated for a different transmission, a different drive shaft would be needed, the sub-frame would have to get cut. I don't want to ever go down that road.

You're right, I wanted to keep the cost down as much as possible and minimize back end troubleshooting for when things don't work. Luckily I did not have many issues. |
