We had a red flag situation the very first session which resulted in that session being scrubbed, however they made it up quite professionally later in the day. I'd have no qualms about going back for another event, based on that...
Sounds good. May check that out instead

Thompson is waaay more brake intensive than Palmer. I wouldn't run stock pads there at all whereas at Palmer you might be OK. I had a friend run Palmer on the stock pads last year and he experienced some brake fade only in the last two sessions.

The front "straight" at Palmer ends in a gentle up hill which helps you slow down. It almost feels like Thompson's front straight causes more brake fade than all of Palmer (plus there's more intensive braking sections on top of that ay Thompson). I ran pMu HC+800 at both and never felt like they weren't up to the task. Just run fresh fluid like Motul RBF600.

I'm signing up for the SCCA track night at Palmer on 9/9. I'm still on stock pads/fluid, but since this is only a couple of sessions (vs. a full track day) how critical would it be to upgrade pads/fluid? Also for what it's worth, I'm not on stock wheels/tires (running michelin pss)

I ran stock pads/rotors but with upgraded and fresh fluid for my first time there.

Pads were totally fine and id guess that as long as you have fresh fluid stock will be ok for just a couple sessions.

I registered for the event on 9/9 and also bit the bullet and ordered new pads/better fluid to be on the safe side. Hope to see some of you guys there!

Did my first track day there in June. Bone stock but fresh DOT4 fluid. I had no issues. Bear in mind though, first track day so I wasn't that hard on the brakes.
