I went to go see where the workshop is up to. They were welding in the cat and then it was onto final assembly and fluids. The workshop is closed until 2nd of January after today so that is when it will go on the dyno.

Here are some pics

And here are some pics of the 1200hp 86 they built

My tuner had a map they spent 1.5 days on with their first hks turbo kit but he used a standard front and over pipe. The tuner wasn’t happy with how that map performed on my car so he needs to wait for ecutek to open on Monday from their Xmas break and he will finalise my tune then. I’m disappointed my car wasn’t ready but I appreciate a workshop that prefers to do this to a customer than deliver a bad tune. I probably would have never known if the tune was not the best, but here’s hoping my car is ready on Monday.

Here are some pics of the complete engine bay with radium engineering catch cans

I just picked up my car and took it for a short drive home. I’m really happy with the kit and power delivery. It’s exactly what I was after for my car.

I’ll get around to posting pics and the dyno graph but my wife had an emergency c section a couple days ago so I’m a bit pre occupied with life. All is well but this is obviously my priority right now

The red line is standard but it was in the wrong gear so the overall power figure for the red line is inaccurate. On a dynapac these usually read around 140-150hp atw.

This kit is designed to work with the hks stroker kit and more boost so it is barely making any power realistically. But it’s exactly what I was after because I do not want to do any mods to the fuel system, gearbox or drive shafts yet. It is my daily and it is exactly what I was after. It sounds amazing

Yeh that’s correct. Power feels perfect. Not too much so you can still drive at ten tenths and not worry about lifting the accelerator.

So it’s been a few months and 10 000km since I got my turbo kit installed and I’m still loving it. No problems at all so far and I drive it a lot. I think my throwout bearing is making some noise so if I have to drop the box to replace that I will likely add the verus clutch fork and pivot. Other than that I think this car is done. I could add aero parts and change to e-85 and chase more power but I really love how it drives right now. Where it sits right now the smiles per dollar factor is where it should be, every extra dollar spent from here would see deminishing returns in terms of fun.

So the next journey will be getting back on 2 wheels. I used to have a triumph Daytona 675r so now I’m looking at getting a Ducati panigale v4s or an Aprilia RSV4 once the 1100cc motor comes out

So plans change pretty quickly. Took it in for a service and identified I need to replace the verus rear toe arm spherical bearing as there is excessive play. Also for some reason the inside of the driver front tyre was completely bald. I did get lazy with rotating but a few friends have the same wear on only that specific corner. So I ordered 2 new ad08r tyres to replace both fronts and I’m still waiting to hear back from verus for replacement parts.

While my car was there I mentioned I wasn’t happy with my tune. The guy that runs the workshop and owns a few 86 race cars, so he took it for a drive and really thinks the motor is at its limit and would be much safer on e85. So in a pre-emptive attempt to not throw a rod out of the motor I’ve bought a few things and it will go in for a stand alone e85 tune very soon.

I’ve bought:
Verus slanted hood vents
Verus fuel starvation door
Defi boost gauge
Frs oem style fog light delete kit
New injectors and fuel pump to handle e85
70° thermostat
And I will wrap the turbo manifold and dump pipe

This should get rid of lots of the heat and make me much more confident in the motor not going bang.

I’m not after more power with e85 but just cooler temperatures. If anything I might take a little bit of boost out of it when it is tuned.

So much for being done
