They're already working on classing the cars. Personally I would expect to see them classed in the upcoming fastrack.

Twins are in DS unless you have the TRD package on your FRS.

No mention of 2017 BRZ or 86 in the street class section at this time, so they're not eligible until classed. That having been said, they WILL be classed before Dixie I'm sure, and in the meantime, it would be up to your local region to enforce what class they feel the car is fit in until the national office officially places it. I think it's likely they'll be in CS.
Linked document. No Appendix A because it's not the full rule book. I appreciate that you are trying to be as correct as possible but you are not reading what I said and you clearly never clicked the link and just assumed it was the full rulebook.

Appendix A is part of the full rule book and is the one that matters. It's a separate link from the "full rule book" for convenience of not having to download the whole thing to find your correct class.

What's everyone's alignment settings? I was thinking of going with 1/8" out up front and 1/16" in on the rear

I don't think these cars need a lot of toe out up front. They turn-in well stock, and I don't want any more tire "scrub" than is absolutely necessary.

I ran more aggressive toe on my STU Z front and rear, but it wasn't as naturally nimble as the twins and had enough torque and power that tire scrub wasn't a concern to me.

I stayed in CS with my FRS and have been happy with what I call "ghost toe"....basically zero front and rear but IIRC it's actually 1mm total toe-in rear and half a mm toe out up front. (Almost zero for both)

I really hope so, it would definitely breath new life into the DS as the older twins are ubiquitous and cheap now. I don't think people realize what a big difference the 5HP combined with the gearing is. A multi-time national champion said the stock 17 BRZ felt like a fully prepped STX twin in terms of power. The top speed in gearing is not enough to make up the difference. It would really kill the 13-16 Twins if allowed in DS, IMHO.

If the 2017s end up in DS and are demonstrably better than the 13'-16' then I'm done with SCCA. They mess with the street classes too much and their "philosophy", as I was told by one of the SEB members, is to put the popular cars where they can win, and not worry about the less popular ones. CS is already going to be ND Miata or bust. We saw that this past year just in the first season of the car it pretty much smoked the competition. If they move us all to DS and then let the 2017s be the car to have I'm not playing these car swapping games anymore.

Please write this letter to the SEB. They do listen.

I feel the SEB and its advisory committees have been far more willing to bend to member input than in years past.

Ughhh, who said that?

Anyways, it'll be buried in CS most likely. If it does get classed in DS, it'll be on a separate line and will have the potential to get booted if it becomes overdog status.

I wouldn't freak out

The street classes do change a lot. Ten years from now all the 86 variations will probably be in ES together lol

I don't know who DaWorstPlaya is on here but since he's from Denver, I'm sure I know him haha. And I'm also pretty sure he's talking about my former roommate Mayfield, because Chris got a chance to drive Justin's car and said that exact thing.

You're not scared I'm getting a '17 are ya?

And don't fret too much, talk to Annie if you want a list of reasons the '17 won't do well in STX apparently hehe.
