Funny thing to say given how gigantic and MASSIVE vehicles in the U.S. have gotten over the past 15 years or so!

I wish they'd have continued to increase CAFE every year instead of holding pat at 1987 levels for years. As engine/drivetrain efficiencies improved, automakers just made the cars bigger and heavier

Looking forward to increased CAFE/CO2 regs as that will force cars to become smaller and lighter-weight.

They made cars bigger because that's what people wanted. If people want to pay for more gas and more expensive vehicles, they should be allowed to. As long as they aren't puffing out smoke or making directly harmful amounts of fumes, it should be fine.

Everybody driving tanks is not reasonable for a number of reasons.
1. overconsumption of fossil fuels bad for "national security"
2. bad for the economy (higher consumption = higher fuel prices for everyone)
3. bad for roads (3000- lb. is easier on infrastructure than 4000+ lb.)
3. roullette with the environment (CO2 up over 25% since industrial revolution began)
4. And it sucks that my choice in cars is largely limited to oversized/overweight behemoths.

Believe me, I never would have thought I'd be all for increasing CAFE, but IMO it is totally warranted and appropriate, and will only increase real standard of living in the U.S.

I don't care who you are, cruising around in a behemoth alone is just nonsense.

I still think 4000lb+ car should exist in up scale luxury brands. Light weight cars don't have that feel heavier cars have. Same goes to heavier cars.

CAFE is just how government push automakers to innovate, which is good for consumers.

I don't neccesarily disagree and would support it almost, but I don't want to see any regulations to make people drive smaller light weight cars. It should still be up to us to make that decision and most are changing or taking upon themselves to switch to more efficient vehicles. And hopefully there's not laws on the size of engines, which I believe, if I'm incorrect though, they have over in Europe.
