ABS button....means ABS be turned off?

So... I was looking at this picture, and it appears that the button on the left is traction control on/off, and the button on the right is labeled ABS...

So does that mean we will be able to turn ABS on and off...?

I think the real question that should be asked from this is....will traction control be standard or optional?

Please GOD let it be optional...

Aren't those buttons a lie in most cars?

I seem to remember a car my friend was driving for fun. Said he turned off the Traction Control, but everytime he tried to get a little spin happy, it would automatically kick on anyways.

My CL-S had a VSA off button (Variable Stability Assist i think) Found that when i hit this button, and the little Yellow light came on, the amount of tread on my tires drastically dropped.

So i guess that depends on the car.

I wouldn't lose much sleep over what the prototype interior has in it.

To anyone here who thinks the production car ends up with an interior even remotely similar to the prototype, I have some nice swamp property I'd like to sell you. Special price.

It would be surprising that in 2012 that ABS wouldn't be required.

You are definitly right, those buttons will usually just reduce the safety threshold but not completly defeat the system. I have a feeling by the time the lawyers at Toyota get their hands on this car those buttons will disappear I can't imagine a car being sold with a button to turn of ABS, sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen
