Perrin Wing Riser Kit for 2017-2018
Ran across the Perrin Wing Riser kit yesterday when looking at the Perrin website. Looks like a nice alternative to the Drambeenie wing riser. Install looks simple and they’re only $80 (instead of $270-$350 for the Drambeenie).
https://www.perrin.com/shop/exterior...er-kit-for-brz Who has installed these, and how did it go? |

Some dislike looks of these risers and/or painted branding on them and prefer drambeenie's more OEM-ish looks and are willing to pay more for that. To each his own, but imho main bit should be if and which one likes more. Drambeenie's are not THAT expensive vs price of car. Meanwhile my own choice would be to leave stock spoiler as is. Toyobaru designed/tested it for specific aero impact/compromise on downforce & drag. Changing it w/o any tests of result, just for looks to make spoiler look more aftermarket wing like, imho is wrong.

Drambeenie has branding on it, too. I can’t imagine the the difference in downforce between either option and stock is noticeable for most people. This is primarily an aesthetic mod.

If you’re going for aesthetics then I can’t really imagine not going with Drambeenie’s. It might mean saving up a bit longer if needed for those over the Perrin ones, but I think it’s worth it. The Perrin ones have looked janky in all the photos I’ve seen of them mounted on real cars. Imo it comes down to how you want the lines of the car to flow and I just don’t think Perrin accomplishes that.
Also, you’ve probably seen mine when we’ve run into each other at Cars and Coffee before or other events haha. Hopefully if you remember that’ll give you a good idea of how they look in person.

Yes, Drambeenie has branding too. Branding on Drambeenie risers is engraved into the surface of the riser (well probably not really engraved since it's 3D printed, but you get the idea), is the same color as the riser itself, and is tucked up right below the wing, at the top edge of the riser, so it's very subtle.
Branding on Perrin risers is the total opposite. Big white lettering on a black background, at the lower edge of the Perrin block so it's much more visible. Of course with aesthetics being subjective I can't say that everyone will prefer the appearance of the Drambeenie risers, but for me keeping that nice smooth OEM-like shape rather than having a brick bolted onto the top of each of my risers is definitely preferable. |

If aesthetics are your only concern buy the ones that dont look bad. Seems to be an easy choice.

The looks of the Perrins isn't great, but has grown on me. Definitely never spending $300 on the other ones. Those would be OK at 33% of the current price, but otherwise, that cash would be better spent being applied to something functional.
