FRS vs Camaro Handling

My friend just bought a Camaro SS 1LE, and insists it will handle better than an FRS/BRZ/86. What are your thoughts folks?

Depends what you mean by handling.

But solely in terms of lateral grip (with your FR-S on OEM touring Primacy's or all-season Turanzas), he's right.

Didn't one of the new Camaros do really well on the Nurburgring track?

Define "Handling"? Term "Handling" can define differently by everyone. Because it have different meaning for everyone. Even if you're talking about weight shift/transition can change w tire quality (& suspension). Corner speed or how fast can go through the course/track can be different w driver.

So again, define "handling"

As mentioned "handling" is relative to opinions. Camaro is bigger and heavier so not a nimble.

A 1LE will beat an M3. Can an 86 beat an M3?

The Camaro should win on any course that's not the size of a parking lot.

Assuming the Camaro driver can see where they are going.

Have you driven the latest incarnation of a Camaro? They are very nimble. The size and weight is way down and very deceiving when you just look at the numbers.

Considering v6 1LE

I test drove one last weekend.... it's pretty darn nice!! The v6 with MT is pretty good and the "handling" is on-par with the 86. The "difference" from the driver's seat is that the Camaro definitely "feels heavier" (cuz it is...) so don't expect it to feel as "nimble" as the 86. But that said... one can push the 1LE hard into a turn and it's solid...with just a hint of understeer.

"Lightly optioned" beyond the 1LE package, it's only a few thousand more than a new 86/BRZ.

Adding a v8 to the mix is not really necessary unless one has the need to lay down a lot of rubber. The extra weight up-front (with v8) definitely can be "felt' when in hard turns.... BUT... it's still good and fun!

My only complaint about the Camaro in general is the SMALL trunk. There's no carrying more than two small suitcases let alone 4 wheels/tires in the back like one can with a 86!!

Even if the Camaro is better at "handling" , does that make you feel any different about your car?
