Door Card Removal

Step by step removal of the door panel.

First there are 3 screws that need to be removed.

First is inside the door handle.

Second 2 are under the door pull handle.

So first you must pull off the trim piece that covers the screws. Start at the bottom.

The 2 screws are behind.

Last thing to remove is the clip in the upper forward door. Just use a flathead screwdriver to pop it out.

Now you just pull the door panel off. There are a bunch of clips inside and it takes quite a bit of force to get off.

Once you get it loose you will have to diconnect the cables that hook to the lock and door handle.

Last thing holding on are the wire plugs connected to power window and locks.

Thanks for the pics - why does it say door CARD removal instead of door panel? O.o
I've never heard of this terminology

Door cards are typically a fabric or leather insert or inserts in the door panels. As some cars (older, in particular) had solid inner door skins with just a "card" to accent, I can see the confusion. In most modern cars, the whole inner cover is called the door panel and accent portions that are removable or re-coverable would be called door cards.

My BRZ didn't need those other two screws taken out, only the one. The rest just pop out. FR-S differs I guess?

They are screwed into nylon nuts in the door. If you pull hard enough they might come out. lol
