Im definitely not ashamed to have the word vortech on my car just I want more of a sleeper look. Started to sand the paint edges with gray scuff pad. Then I spray prep solvent on the letters and it wiped right off. Next I did a coat of bulldog adhesion promoter, followed by 2 coats of VHT Header black, Flat black so it dosent reflect any light ( more stealth) seems a little gray in direct sun light. but in low light situations should be hard to see. I also will be painting the hose clamps and the couplers.
I can certainly appreciate the desire to keep the sleeper look. Nice work, not many would have bothered with the that much prep.

Lol well I wanted to last. The black vortech powder coat is really nice. Scuff pad barely phased it. The silver on the other hand. Didn't expect prep solvent to dissolve it

This setups bad ass, seems to be the "right amount" of gains and not overkill and decent price. Rumours have it TRD will be supercharger and probably cause they to realize the cars other mechanical limitations. Vortech needs to sell patent rights to TRD to speed up public warrantee availability?

ONLY thing holding me back from this system is warranty nothing else.

Do you think you could have removed the letters completely if you hadn't already scuffed the area? Just thinking this might be good info for others that feel that same way.

Yes this is true. Honestly scuffing lightly with the gray color scuff pad. To open up the silver and allowing the prep solvent to penetrate. Also there will be some silver that will stick to the fins even using the solvent. I don't recomend brake cleaners etc

Will prep solvent remove the letters without scuffing. I say yes

Spraying black directly over sliver. Will show the silver over time if you are getting rock chipping.

I bet you the TRD kit will be very expensive, im guessing 6000$ atleast also I heard TRD is not making one for the public

There is a huge auto show here in Edmonton next week. All kinda of Toyota people were at dealer in country for the event. This discussion came up in was standing right there and they said it was a definite item on list to come. They have their own supercharger division so its not that difficult with their development division. You're guaranteed right on price no doubt but I can't afford to not have warranty otherwise I'd have added this system to cart days ago as to me it seems to be the simplest and most common sense to the car, IMO anyhow.

I'm going to this show and want to see if I can get any clarification at all, I realize that's just some chaps chatting but there was no hesitation in them saying it was on the plate from where I stood.

I like the work you did with the intercooler, I will do the same if I go the Vortech route. It came out real clean and will be very stealth. I have a black car so flat black would tuck nicely away.

I will for sure if can find anything concrete. I must say I am having a REAL HARD time not wanting this kit you have NOW, it is an impressive layout, simple and seemingly so far from everyones reports effective! Seeings how complete new to doing it folks have done this install on their own says alot for Vortech IMO, obviously its a well laid out kit with good instructions, quality and support I am jealous really.
