Do you know how many time people go off the roads in snowy condition/aqua planning, and have to get their insurance to cover the damage? Should have they been there in the first place? Going too fast? Careless? The lines between accident and stupidity can sometime be thin. And what is a REAL accident? There is always 1 driver's who's at fault for lack of attention/careless driving...he's lucky he was the only one involved.
Only those directly involve know if it was a real accident or not. Sure if the car went off the road and had damage the insurance company will fix it. But does a clear conscience say that messing around like that was the right thing to do. If you slide off a snowy road even though you are trying to avoid that is one thing. If you go out and intentionally break traction; well, I don't think the insurance company had that in mind. Of course a pattern will probably develop from claims, that is why 20-30 year old males pay more insurance. And believe me I do not have any love for insurance companies, they are a necessary evil. But statistics of accidents are used to determine rates, and these incidents will show up in a particular category. They aren't intending to cover ****ing around. That should be on your own dime.

Not sure I believe the OP's story.

"We got out and checked for damages after doing stupid stuff."

How did you miss something like what I see in those pictures? Seriously?

In my case I learned through this process that any incident with over $1,500 of damage(s) has to be reported. As my incident was estimated to be over by the body shop, they were required to report it and so was I which is how I got my insurance provider involved. So yeah, you're correct.

A REAL accident is something UNPREVENTABLE. Which is not what happened in this thread.

only collision that won't be covered even if you own the collision coverage, is if you admit or if they prove that you decided to have an accident, voluntary.

they can investigate and prove it (like you do a total loss incident, and have a bad credit, etc)

and they won't pay if you try to do suicide in a car accident... well... you do the math....

on an insurance contract, it will mostly say that you are covered for a Collision.

but voluntary damages are an exclusion

It's great that you're proud of your BRZ, man, but seriously - show some respect for it, for yourself, and for anyone else who may be on the road. There is a time and a place.

As I mentioned before, if you're gonna mess around, esp with the VSC off, find an empty parking parking lot to do burnouts. A T interection with low traffic will result in this. As someone else mentioned, it's common sense.
