Probably just going to have to order and wait it out.
Have you checked with all the local dealerships? Last I heard @Veloist a fellow forum members works at a dealership in the Peninsula and might be able to help you out. And also consider going out of state for better selection/less wait. Take a look at the link below in my sig for the CO > CA thread.

Yep, spent about 45 mins tonight checking many of the Bay Area Subie dealers. Most 2017 MY's are auto, or silver MT. Can't find any new 2016's either since I'd almost do that if I could find the right deal/options.

I'll check that link out and trying reaching out to Veloist tonight or sometime in the next couple days. Thanks for the suggestion!

Holy shit are these dealers awful. So Oakland Subaru got my info and called me, insisted that they had a WRB '17 Limited, etc., but would barely give me 500 below MSRP for it. I kept saying I want white. The woman kept saying, "but how do you feel about blue?" Only for me to hang up because she wouldn't help more, then we got on the phone again because I had one more question, she asked again "so what about the blue?", and then she found out five mins later from her manager that it's a 16 and they'll only go 700 below MSRP for it.

I've been texting/calling with people at two other dealers and neither will even give me a full quote/breakdown until they "have the car" I want.

wat. please tell me it gets easier than this

Wow, that is ridiculous. Downtown Subaru has been awful for years. Sorry you are experiencing such a run around.

If you get tired of dealing with dealers around here, you could always contact Heuberger Motors http://www.bestbuysubaru.com/

Only downside is that you'd have to arrange for transport of the vehicle from Colorado.

Anyway, they have been known to not fuck around, and a lot of the original 2013 owners got their cars from them when the CA dealers were playing games like this back at launch. @HeubergerMotors

Thanks for the idea about Heuberger!

It's really a pain in the ass right now. I'm chasing down a couple leads, so I'm hoping I'll get lucky. One guy sent me an email tonight that he can get me 1000 off invoice, which is kinda...unbelievable I would think. But going to see how true that might be tomorrow. Crossing my fingers.

If these don't work then I'll definitely start looking out of state.

Good to know they still suck. I remember going there in 05/06 looking for a WRX. Not many dealers had used ones at the time so we drove out there. I was young but my aunt was with me as well. Salesman asked where we were from and then told us to leave and not waste his time because people don't buy cars that far from where we live. Argued with him for a minute but he wouldnt even open the car for us to look inaide. it was crazy. So instead of driving 1.5hrs to Oakland we drove closer to 2 hours the other direction up to Shingle Springs and bought a car there lol.
@spike021 if you dont want to go out of state but don't mind a bit of a drive call Gold Rush Subaru in Auburn. They are a great dealer. I got my STi there years back and a buddy got his BRZ and a new STi there as well for good prices.

Thanks for the help, everybody!

I fell my way into a pretty fantastic deal this morning and I took it. Even ended up adding the PP because the deal was so good, plus they were giving the PP for invoice rather than the MSRP of it.

Just need to wait a couple months, but it'll be worth it.

It was below invoice. Basically their deal paid for the PP and the final out the door winds up being like right near or right below invoice still.

You used Arco 87 and then floored it in 6th gear at 40mph?

But for real holy shit. Anything else funny? Knock? Misfire? Drives like shit?

Safeway 91 octane. I think it went up to like .45 when I filled up with Shell 91 last week.

I took the reading when the car was at idle. Does it change dynamically when driving or something?

Nothing else unusual, no knock or misfire that I can tell. Drives fine around town but haven't really tried to get on it.
