Autocar reports new Supra

http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsAr...llCars/250636/

Supra said to be being developed in parallel to FT86 due to project slip... Maybe they will share some of the technology?

I went to Camelback Toyota two weeks ago to get an oil change. Ands went to talk to a salesman about the FT-86. He was clueless as to what that was. He was bragging to me how this dealship is the biggest in the U.S and that during sometime that some Japanese corporate people were coming over and bringing some new cars. He told me one of them was the Supra in 2012. He told be they want to compete with Nissian GTR with the new Supra. So I thought if you havent even heard of the FT how do they even know if theres a new supra. After I heard that, I took it with a very small grain of salt. Toyota needs to stop talking the talk, and start walking the walk.

An idiot sells to another idiots.

Joke asides. I think they must be developing either new Supra or new MR2. We all saw MR2 prototype, which adapted with hybrid powertrain. They are not wasting money on it if they don't plan to do it.

They have many many pro driver to test the car, don't worry. I kinda feel sad when you reminded the incident.

RIP Mr. Naruse.

Why would toyota even think they could compete with the GTR with a hybrid? I'm not sure why everyone thinks hybrids are so hot? You have to reduce engine size, so less hp; you have to add a motor, circuits, batteries = crap load of weight, and you get equal MPG (or close to it) to its counterpart. You'll never recover your loss in fuel savings, the car will be a turd, and the resale value is crap because of the batteries. Stick with one or the other. We all know how fun a petrol car is! You get the noise, the smell, and the easy hp mods. Or all electric cars (tesla) with direct drive, 100% torque from near zero rpm, 0-60 times better than most high end cars, and no buying gas. I mean come on! We don't need the worst-of-both-worlds hybrid crap. Toyota (and everyone else) needs to get their head on straight. At least Toyota's heading in the right direction by buying part of Tesla. Of course this is a free market, so if we keep buying gas/hybrid cars, that's what they'll keep making. Just imagine if we all just up and switched to electrics. But I digress...

Did anyone else see that they said the FT-86 (FR-S) is pushed back to 2013?

Toyota said the FT-86 was planned for 2011/2012 now its 2013. My point is Toyota has all these plans, but nothing seems to be hitting production. I dont care anyways cause all these cars are going to be expensive, and gives me more time to save.

Meh, Toyota needs to get something moving. I'm losing interest in this car as I'm looking into a 2011 STi (sedan).
