yep you correct,

you will have to do your own

I would look at the maf scaling thread I did and scale your MAF . to get your fueling right and fuel trims low.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64790

use vgi's utility it makes things easy

just open the oft logs in a text editor and delete the first couple of lines before the data leave the column headers and data and it will import into vgi,s utility, it has help info in it.

Once that is done then look for knock and correct it using info in this thread first post

@Steve I am considering doing the MAF scaling but don't wanna screw anything up as I don't know much about it.

Would there be any potential differences if I used say the same scaling as the one from your tune?

Thanks

The maf scaling in the tune i posted up is same as supplied in standard oft 1.5x tunes.

Maf scaling is done to correct for differences in maf sensors and intakes so its needs to be done on a specific car to be able to get the fuel trims around 2%. The stock or oft maf scaling will generally result in trims of up to 8% or so. more if you have changed intake.

If you log the correct parameters and then use vgi program it very easy, vgi program has help in it. Just make sure you remove the first couple of lines in the oft log text file before importing into vgi program.

If you seeing ltft of say 8% then you would be looking for the vgi utility to be correcting your maf scale by a similar amount, this is always a good check to see its going to plan

Thanks Steve,

I may have missed this information somewhere, but is there a pre-set list of logs/runs I need to perform in a sequence?

Also, if there are numerous runs, do I just run all in one data log or have to separate them?

vgi utility will sort out the open loop and closed loop data as long as you log the parameters as per fist post and in vgi utility help , the help in the utility is good

you just need to log about 30 minutes or so of easy driving, slow accelration steady throttle stuff then do three full throttle runs in second or third gear if you have a suitable area then the vgi utility will do the rest.

you often have to do it a couple of times to get it spot on, idle eill always see varieng fuel trims due iat temp changes especially when its hot.
try to collect logs at similar temperatures

Best to have a read through here:

For CL you want minimal pedal movements but vary the throttle as much as possible. The car will change to OL once you go past a certain pedal amount. I wonder if the OFT can display fuel system status (whether OL or CL) which would make it easy to know while driving. The more time you log, the better the results. Also, you can do more than one journey, so a half hour drive to work and the same again back would be ideal.

In that case:
2 - CL
4 - OL

I was able to add timing to my 86, I only use BP 98. Helps having a dyno so I have played with cams as well. I have found that when the iat goes up there is transient knock, I have removed more timing based on transient throttle. I found when I put the AVO cat back exhaust on I was able to add 1.5 degrees through all the load portions of the map even though the factory headers and cats are still in place.

If you look at the tunes in first post OFT TUNES, they changed the ignition maping and cam timings extensivly compared to stock map

Found same thing with iat and knock , have made the iat vs timing retard tables cut in slightly earlier and increased retard around 3000 rpm where stoch table applied no retard
