Dakar 2020
Kicks off the my motorsports season and showcases some of the world's best athletes and manufacturers in typically grueling conditions.

I don't understand why it is still called "Dakar".
Yeah, let's have the Bathurst race at Sydney Motorsport Park and hold Le Mans at Laguna Seca.

Reminds me of being in Oz last year on Anzac Day and asked some Aussies what it was about. Not a single one knew though admittedly I was asking mostly young women.

Dakar 2021
Originally planned to run through 2-3 countries, the route was modified due to pandemic travel restrictions.
Organizers planned a completely new route to lower top speeds and add more technical sectors. New rules and regs plus new classes will add interest like "where am I?" since drivers will get road books only 10 minutes before each stage start time. Prologue was today, 1/2, to determine starting order for Stage 1 tomorrow. Always great viewing with spectacular helo footage supplemented with ground shots of the more difficult sections. Hopefully safer than last year when losing Paulo Goncalves and Edwin Straver put a damper on the 2020 event. https://www.dakar.com/en/
