The curves of the window make it hard to position, always looks crooked.

Welp. I'm glad I bought 4. Here's where I put mine just because it will bug me if I put it next to my illest decal and it's not symmetrical.

Meh! But, still works! :P

I love your red out tails. What paint did you use for painting your taillights though? VHT Niteshades red?? And how visible are the turn signals through all that red? Can you post a picture/video of the turn signals blinking? I am going to pull the trigger on the red outs and I wanted to make sure they weren't losing too much light.

Yes,
I used VHT Red and I highly recommend it. The Light is still visible with no problem. I thought I was going to have to switch to LED but I didnt have to.

I put 5-6 coats of the red with 3 coats of clear. You can find any clear coating spray when you get to the store.

I can help you do yours if you'd like.

Tips:
Do it INDOORS. No wind or debris that can fall on the taillights.
Take your time. Especially with drying the paint
15-20 minutes between coating.
Wet Sand before painting
Wet sand on the 3rd coat or if you see any imperfections.
Wet sand before applying clearcoat.
Wet sand after drying clearcoat
Use 1500 grit first then 2000 grit when wet sanding to get that very smooth feel i showed you.
Turtle Wax Deep Compound for polishing.
You will need atleast 2-4 hours to complete.
Seal your headlight with polish and wax.

I will try to get a good video but you shouldn't worry. its very visible.

EDIT:

This picture might not do any justice cause it looks pretty dark but I hope this gives you an idea.
If you want it to be brighter. you can always put red led turn lights. I think mine is fine. I installed a 3rd brake light flasher too just so people can see when im braking. I was worried that because it was too red they wont see when its on.

I missed you all last weekend.. I couldn't make the JD Carting meet due to some family scheduling issues.

I know we (MI 86'ers) just had a meet last weekend.. but I think we should do it again this weekend.

Mich Sports Car Club (MSCC) is having an autocross in Warren at the Macomb Community College campus. It should be pretty low-key and laid back compared to the SCCA stuff at Pontiac. So i think everyone will get more runs and have more fun. Plus, unlike the SCCA event, this is not expensive at all. $35.. no membership or annual pass required.

http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/...event_id=15001

I've been emailing with the organizer:
Question 1: The name of the event is championship.. does this mean you have to quality to attend or is it open to all?
Answer: All this means is that if you signed up for a number in the beginning of the season it counts towards year-end points. Totally open to anyone, we're very happy to get random entrants with all levels of experience and vehicles. That's most of the fun, seeing all types of different cars and trying to see if their owners can come close to their capabilities. We pay special attention to first timers and will pair you with a mentor if you wish.

Question: How many participants? Will it be an all-day time-suck for only 3 quick runs like the Pontiac SCCA events?

Answer: We run a less rigid more relaxed event than SCCA. Depending on turnout, we usually run 4-5 laps. Unlike SCCA, we divide up the day into three run sessions and you can run whenever you want as long as you're not signed up to work a corner that session.

We're usually done by 3pm or so, so figure on a 5-6 hour day. Still nowhere near the bang for the buck an open track day offers but if you spin out here, we won't give you a lecture :-) The lot this weekend is pretty small so I'm hoping we can design up something around 35 seconds :-(

We don't run all of the SCCA classes, so we'll need to figure out what class to bump you up to. I'm thinking it'll be something Street Prepared due to your wheels.
You can go to dcscc.blogspot.com to read our rule book.

One final note from the organizer:
If they're in doubt about coming, have them pre-register anyway. There's no issues if you sign up and don't show up. It makes it a lot easier for me when I'm doing registrations, though.

Michael

So.. this sounds excellent to me!
I think we should bring a grill and cook out in the parking lot and have fun hanging out while we're waiting to drive (and do cone duty).

Anyone interested in joining me?

I think I'm going regardless.. but it would be way better if more people show up.

Sounds awesome. I would be interested, but I will have to see if I'll be back in the area by Sunday.
