A touch of rubbing in the same spot as @Roadcone. Nothing that a hammer can’t fix!

Have yet to get under my car so I have no clue, is the spot making contact with the header elevated or recessed? Kinda hard to tell in the pictures.

The spot where mine was touching was an elevated area. I used a deadblow and a 3/8 extension to direct the bending/denting and it worked like a charm. It didn't take much.

JDL 4-2-1 EL header

The noise on cold starts & load at low-mid rpms seems to still be present, so that would rule out the skid plate.

So, I think I may have a leak at the header which is causing this noise. It sounds like its extra thrummy exhaust sound coming from the front of the car (lol English); perhaps Touge Tuning didn't torque the header down on the gaskets properly? Or I could just be crazy.

Upon cold starts and after getting under load a bit as well I can smell exhaust distinctly from the front of the vehicle.

Given the holiday weekend, I won't have time to get back underneath the car and check until next weekend. Car seems to drive fine for now anyways.

Another video here, you can hear it at first then as the car settles into idle there is a distinct tone change (the thrum goes away).

EDIT: Switching to a Grimmspeed gasket between the header and overpipe fixed the issue. The graphite gasket that comes with the header is kinda junk.

Sounds awesome! Unrelated questions: is that an app overlay you are running on your GoPro to get the info on the video? I'm trying to find something similar to that.

I’m using racecapture track mk2 and feeding the data into solostorm for analysis at autocross.

You can just run the racecapture and use their overlays as well if you want.

For autox, Solostorm is the best for quick analysis throughout the day and deep-dive analysis later. Granted it is an expensive app (~$200) and buggy, it is the best for autox. And yes, you can overlay data on videos.

For full track, there are a ton of options, but I personally like RaceChrono. Their in-app data analysis is the best and easiest to use from what I've seen, and you can export the data for deep-dive analysis in Track Addict or other PC-based applications. You can also overlay data (from GPS, OBDII, etc) on videos from the internal camera and/or multiple go-pros. There is a free version and the paid version is only around $20-$25. Here is an example:

Also, for more sounds of the JDL, I remembered to connect my external mic in this video:

Has anyone done a dyno with E85 yet? Would be curious to see how this one handles an E85 tune compared to the UEL.

Picked up a cheap lav off amazon just so I could do this for you guys. In-car DSLR mounting solution will need to get better to curb the shakies, but the audio from that lav mic on the rear bumper? Ace (heh).

JDL 4-2-1 header with the Invidia R400 catback, stock overpipe and front pipe.

Nice! A true external mic picks up the sound sooo much better.

Not to one up you or anything but I used to use a cheap lavalier mic. It always sounded muffled with the stock header/catback setup. I think it was exceeding the frequency of the microphone. So I stepped up to the Olympus ME-51S Stereo Microphone I actually just keep it tied down in the rear trunk area near the back/bumper and I have an aux extension cord running to the main cabin that I plug into my gopro. You've probably seen this clip before, but this is what it sounds like with the external Olympus mic plugged in:

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bwc-E6ljCK9/

Regardless, any external mic sounds better than most on-camera mics!

In other news, Bill at Delicious Tuning made some tweaks to my tune...it feels much stronger now! I'm not sure if it's placebo effect, but I will have it on the dyno again soon to confirm the power gains.
