How many times did the Captain of your carrier grab a handful of other random senior people and go flying around in your aircraft with you? If he did was his immediate action to say "Hey, is that a Soviet sub shooting at us? Let's go talk to them in person."

But...

Right on point after my own watching through about as many times.

I will say though that it seems 100% policy in the SciFi universe that the entire Senior Command Team goes on every exploratory/dangerous mission. SciFi definitely takes a lead from the front approach to pretty much everything, even in ship design. I mean, shouldn't the bridge be well within the infrastructure of the ship? There is no reason it has to always be on the front, particularly when there are no windows just fabuously large displays.

It makes sense from an entertainment point of view since it get's to show all the shot callers in the thick of action.
Nobody wants to watch Star Trek The Service Departments for an hour every day. A show featuring Burt the Plumber Mate First Class that fixes the toilet transporter units that send the turds to Klingon territory, Larry the IT Warrant Officer that fixes the captains intergalactic email and turns the ships computer off and back on and Marg the frazzled HR Lieutenant that has to keep replacing security staff every two days... Shit, I actually would like to watch that!

Was a British show from the mid 70s. Don't recall who broadcast it but it was probably CBC. Only ran a couple of years.

Some did but the forecast tech wasn't so far off even if a bit early to say it would exist in the (at that time) roughly 25 years in the future. The Eagle design was probably one of the most realistic of all the "space ships" of that period. No wings or smooth surfaces but a simple open cage with detachable modules depending upon the mission. It was also interesting how they managed to do so much without killing off a bunch of people. Since there were only supposed to be 300 or so inhabitants they had to have a bloody good reason for any to die. It is that reason that many of the action sequences were a bit anticlimactic or predictable since you were pretty sure everybody would be OK.

"Eh" should always be capitalized for emphasis.

I know. I was pulling your leg. People doing things properly sounds like British drama.

It really was a decent show. My beef was just in the moon magically encountering other worlds traveling at sub-light speed.
