Yeah, understandable about the inspections, always best to double check and play it safe And I agree that these are the BEST looking lights on the market by far!

Thanks guys,
Rick

I have them, and agree they are the best looking lights out there (no buyers remorse here!)

Fortunately in Australia the wiring is "correct"

Any lights you buy that are set up for JDM, EUDM, AUDM are pretty much bound to have the same problem. What would be clever would be someone coming up with a harness converter that plugged between the USDM harness and JDM lights, and put a reflector sticker in the box and charged say $10.

No re-pinning, convert back to stock any time you like. Maybe an idea out there for someone?

Wouldn't you buy that?

Maybe the importer just packs them with every set of lights.

Your turn signals will blink really fast.

I installed mine today and I lurve them!

I couldn't get the relay off so I just plugged the new one into the wire and left it hanging.

Nice, glad you like them! And I thought about doing the same with the relay, but eventually I was able to get it off with a bit of gentle persuasion lol

Thanks,
Rick

IIRC some condensating cars came w/ the tails overtorqued? were those the housing bolts or others?

can anyone confirm a tq spec for these?

I am still waiting on a better picture/diagram on how to re-pin the harness, but I was able to whip this up really quick.

And yes, you will insert your pick/tool in the opening and down in the plug and just above the pin there will be a small plastic tab that you lift up as you are pulling the wire out from the back at the same time.

Hope this helps

The issues seem to be from the gasket and over torquing of the mounting bolts. There is a TSB listed specific for this where Subaru provides new nuts and a new gasket for the stock tails.

The torque spec for the mounting nuts is 4.5 Nm or 39 inch-pounds (3.25 ft/lbs).

Thanks,
Rick

Can't you just lay on your back and get to the flasher relay? I remember doing it when I installed LED turn signals (although I removed them), I'm guessing it's the same relay?

I had to carefully take a very small flathead screwdriver and insert it between the plastic tab and the relay to free the relay from the plastic tab. I was not able to capture a good picture of that process unfortunately, but it came off with a bit of patience.

Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Rick

you pull down on it and slide out. Was not hard really, just took a little thinking. Lay on your back, look under the wheel. Pull towards you on the relay, then push towards the front of the car. If that does not work, just yank on it. the plastic clip will unseat it self from the hole before you break the clip itself. Then you can transfer the clips and be good to go.
